Kawasaki and Suzuki to be doing much better then last year, making things more interesting.

I think Sete Gibernau will be pushing hard to show Honda that they made a mistake in letting him go. The Ducatis have shown good speed in some of the early tests. I also expect Nicky Hayden, Colin Edwards and Kenny Roberts Jr. to finish on the podium several times, this season. I would agree with Ben that Kawasaki and Suzuki will be much stronger, with a few podium finishes.

It will definitely be a fun season to follow. The talent level is as high as it has been within the past 5+ years and all of the factories are looking really strong.

What time are they running this?

I am stuck on call this weekend so I can't ride too far away... I'd definitely like to catch this. I'll probably head out and see if I can watch it at MotoMarket. (No speed for me)

From what I've read recently Kawasaki had changed their existing bike last year to use a "big bang" firing order like Yamaha. The new bike this year is a clean-sheet redesign around big-bang so hopefully they are closer to the top.

Hopefully the Suzuki will speed up as things get going too, they switched over to pneumatic valves this year. :O I guess I like Hopkins so it'd be cool to see him do well.

Honda & Yamaha seem to be a mystery, anyone hear what they've changed?

I've not heard of any new developments on the Hondas and Yamahas. They probably won't change much at all with the rule changes that will take effect in 2007. The biggest rule change is that the displacement limit is being reduced to 800cc. So, ALL of the manufacturers will have new bikes in '07. That should provide for another exciting season. However, Rossi will most likely make the transition to F1 racing.

I LOVE motorsports....aside from anything NASCRAP.

If anyone does not have SpeedTV and you're close to Manchester/Concord NH, you're welcome to check it out at my place on the big screen. I'll also record it on the DVR, so I would like to make a few DVDs of the season. Does anyone know how to record to DVD from DVR?

As far as xfer...

I would use my digital camcorder to record directly from your DVR. Then capture it to my PC and burn a DVD.

I'd do it that way cuz its the the hardware I have available at the house. I'm sure there are easier ways to do it though.

I have two USB ports on the back of my DVR. I was thinking that I might be able to connect my portable HDD to one of those ports and transfer the program to that. From there I would connect the HDD to my PC and burn to DVD. Will this work ?

No but you can buy a USB ethernet adapter and plug the Tivo into that. Then once you have the Tivo configured on the network you can download a program from Tivo for your PC which will fetch the shows off the hard drive.

Some shows are locked out and you have to have a Windows PC, there is no mac support.

Watch him, he's a great rider who is coming up very well. This year or next year could be his year. That Kawasaki is gonna surprise a few people this year. They have been doing a lot of work on it off-season.

USB is too WAY slow to transfer DVD video. You can... if you want... but its gonna take a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time.

I think the Digital camcorder method is the best way to do it on the cheap.

Do you have access to one? (and a firewire cable too?)

The Tivo doesn't store video in *anything* near DVD quality.

So the USB network adapter tends to get the job done OK.

I do have a digital camcorder. However, my camcorder only has a firewire connection, no USB.

Ben, can I use a wireless USB adapter? My DVR is downstairs, but my PCs are upstairs and I do have a wireless network in my house.

Yes a USB wireless card should work fine.

You might want to double check on the Tivo website to make sure you get a compatible model, but that's what I have setup and it works fine.

Are you letting your Tivo dial out on the phone line right now? If you set up the wireless you won't have to plug the Tivo into the phone anymore.

I have a windows media center computer. I can record anything but I can't skip commercials. I belive it saves it as a windows media file so I can burn a cd/dvd or what have you.

Correction: It saves it as Microsoft Recorded TV Show but it opens with Windows Media Player. Since it is a wankey format, Windows Movie Maker does not reconize it and will not open it to edit.
There is a way to get around the commercials, however. What you would have to do is start and stop the recording as the commercials end and begin. This would make the show into little chucks though. If you are watching it anyways, it might be worth it because 9 hours of video is 40 gigs on the best quality.... but the best is THE BEST quality.
