    Completely necessary

I'm going to be adding a few goodies to the little 250 in a sad attempt to keep myself busy, and possibly add a miniscule amount of performance. So in preperation of that I temporarily mounted up an Lc-1 I had laying around. Had to order a gauge though, so that will be in soon I hope.

    Modding a 250...

lol, most people put on a fender eliminator, or wash their bikes when they're bored. You install a wideband.

    Nice install, very clean!

    Re: Completely necessary

I'm waiting on new signals so I can chop the fender. Yeah, the bike needs a wash, but this seemed like a more interesting time.

I have a few more things on the way, some new jets, new air filter, '06 sv650 rear shock, and some odds and ends. Looking at some .80 sonic springs fork springs, and racetech emulators. I'm still trying to figure out an exhaust, I want a single, but a quite single. I may graft on an '08 stock muffler and fab a new header. Still torn on tires, not too much to work with in my size, but I have a few in mind. I need to get some new pads and lines too, as the stock brakes are pretty underwhelming.

Is it going to be worth it? Probably not, but I like to tinker, so it will satisfy my boredom for a tick.

I did the SV shock swap when I had my 250... great mod, jacks the rear end up about 1.75 inches, and with the chopped fender gives it a much more aggresive look.

Did you redrill the lower shock holes or leave it where it was?

    Re: Completely necessary

i had a muzzys 2 into one on my EX...wasn't loud at all.

when i went to the local bike shop to order the pipe and jet kit, the guy at the counter told me the best mod i can do to make that 250 faster was to sell it and buy a bigger bike. i thought that was kind of a silly way to look at it. trying to make a slow bike better is way more fun.

good luck with the moding, and keep us posted.

I plan to keep it for a while even after I upgrade. It's a great little commuter, but it's shortcomings are a little too apparent for my tastes. A little money here and there, and I'm a happier commuter.

That's a great attitude... the bitch is on my 250 now, but when she upgrades next season, its not going anywhere. I'm incredibly attached to it

i wish i had hung on to my 250...something about that tiny little thing was just so much fun. or, i guess it could just be "first bike nostalga".

deffinatly hang on to it when you upgrade...that way you already have a fun little trackday bike. that's less valuable than a set of stock fairings for a CBR.

Got it in today, but I also got some other stuff in too that is going to be first. I put on the flush mount front signals, rear turn signal pods, chopped the fender, ditched the stock airbox for a K&N, and a few other odds and ends. I still can't rejet accurately till my wideband gauge comes in, but I'm going to pop some bigger ones in there tomorrow after the MSF course as it is running lean as shit right now. It also sounds horrible with the K&N, so I'm going to work something out with that. All in all it was a pretty productive few hours. I have some unexciting pics that I'll post up when I get home tonight.
