    Tire changin

I want to start changing my tires myself.

I used to pop them off and take them to a dealer then last year when i was in TN one of my friends did the changing and balancing for me and i saw how easy it was.

Anyone have any advice on where to get a good blancer, tire irons, ect?

Anyone have any experience with this balancer?

    Thanks

I've heard that No-mar is excellent.

I was looking at doing the same myself. I worked in my uncles garage for a number of years and changed a lot of car tires. Very simple to do. Balancing is where some skill comes in.

    Re: Tire changin

I made a bead breaker out of 1 stud and a door hinge

    cost about $8

    Balancing

I used the bike axle and a pair of saw horses to prop up the axle.
Stick on weights at most MC places or some car places

    Tire Irons

I have gotten mine through the years you need at least 3 big ones and they should have the bend lip ones.

You need a compressor with a tank

This is needed to pop the bead up on the rim (seat the bead)

    Bad news

This method you will scratch your rims. I have no success saving all the paint

YOu can get the whole tire changer deal at harbor freight for about $100
tire changer plus mc adapter YOu still need the rest and the thing is big and it looks like you need to bolt it to the floor.

On the plus side once adept you can be done in less time then the trip to the stealership.

I have the NoMarBAr...Works GREAT! I have never scratched a rim in the 3 years I have had it.

To break the bead I use 2- 2x4's nailed together That i have had forever, Wedge it under the shed, and push down on the edge of the rim....Pissa!.

Works everytime....I am sure just about any 2x? will work...LOL

I had the Harbor freight unit, POS in my opinion. I got rid of it as soon as it came in. No protection for the rim and was poorly made. If I was to get another I would get the NoMar set up this time.

I manage with just the bar but the whole setup would be schweeet!
