    Cool new iPhone motorcycling app

Check out the new iPhone app "Greatest Road" (it's in the Navigation section of the App Store). It allows users to input their favorite roads and search areas for roads others have input. It only just came out so doesn't have a lot of users yet, but once it gains a bigger user base it'll be an awesome resource for finding great places to ride all over the world.

I've added a bunch of routes in Vermont, NY, NH, and Quebec.

Re: Cool new iPhone motorcycling app

Seven bucks really does not strike me as expensive for an app as useful as this. That's less than the price of a movie ticket and will probably provide a hell of a lot more entertainment in the long run.

Shouldnt it be called "lets blow up all the good secret roads, so every douche shows up there and the cops are sure to follow"?

Re: Cool new iPhone motorcycling app

You might notice that I haven't entered T Rd...

Edit: Truth be told, people can easily find those roads anyway just by looking for squiggly lines on Google Maps. With this app, you can at least add comments asking people to respect the locals or whatever. I'm still not adding T Rd though...

Sure, anyone can find T Road on a map, why do we bother calling it T Road then? Because people are fucking lazy and wont go looking for it, but if its presented directly in front of them they might check it out.

Which is exactly why I won't be entering it in this app.

But honestly, how many of those super-secret roads like T Rd are there? If a road is really a local secret, then it probably won't get entered into the app -- the database is created by the users, after all -- for the same reason it's not named on NESR or elsewhere.

And let's face it... the only reason T Rd is a local secret is because it's in the middle of nowhere.

$7 expensive in the world of iPhone apps when most are free or $.99.

It's the idea that they're charging me $7 for something that I could probably find just as easily, and for free, on a website like GroupRider... ...through Safari.

    I'll boycott on principle alone.

True, but most are also relatively useless.

My favorite iPhone app is a $10 weather radar app. Sure, I can look at the weather radar images on weather.com or whatever, but this app does a much better job, so I don't mind paying $10 for it.

Same deal with Greatest Road. If nothing else, its way better interface than GroupRider is reason enough to spend the $7. For me, at least.

Yeah, but you're a mac fanboi so you're using to overpaying for technology that should otherwise be free.

Nah, I just think people deserve to get paid when they put a lot of effort into something.

    True.

I'll demo your copy and potentially purchase it if it's as good as you say.

Stud the tires on your Ninja and we'll go for a ride.

Otherwise, you'll just have to be content waiting till March or April.

I've looked before but I get bored using this method. I don't know what state it's in and if it even starts with a T. I guess your secret remains safe.

First one to Pm the location gets $10.

Re: Cool new iPhone motorcycling app

Several of us have posted several times that if anyone from NESR wants to come up this way, we'll be happy to take them over to T Rd personally.
