Leathers... Thinking About Getting This...

well considering that they don't want you to know who makes it and that Moto GP Kawasakis are green, and none of them are sponsored by Shell I'd skip this over.

This looks like one of those cheap leathers made in Pakistan or elsewhere...

I'd look for a known brand from a reputable dealer.

However I think Mr. Hornet might be a little bit biased as he feels that you need to pay top dollar in order to get good quality gear. I see his point that you get what you pay for but there are happy mediums out there in which you don't have to spend that much $$.

Nobody's saying you need Vansons but I wouldn't want to buy it without at least knowing what the brand is.

At least with cheap well known brands like Teknic or Joe Rocket you can check up on reliability/quality record by asking other riders or just searching on google.

ur nevermind it sounds like I'm trolling... I have had some discussions about gear with Green and he feels strongly that you need to pay $500 for a helmet in order to get one that works....and that Teknic and Joe Rocket gear is crap..just stuff like that..which in some cases he is dead right. The more expensive leathers etc will hold up better but if you aren't racing the less expensive ones would work in a crash....maybe not 2 crashes..but most should hold up decent. Just my opinion..not trying to start an arguement...

I agree with you red. I got good miles out of my Joe Rocket Cordura, it fell apart but it took a long time.

My Teknic suit looks like it would hold together for a long time if I'd actually worn it more. Stoneman races in a Teknic suit and it sounds like his has been fine.

$500 helmet and jeans IS stupid. Cheap full coverage gear is always going to be better than 1/2 coverage with good gear. You're only as protected as your worst piece of gear IMO.

I'm starting to think I'm just going to keep my gear since it's pretty good stuff. Whenever I jump ship back and pick up another motorcycle I'll still have it.

Haven't gone riding with anyone yet this year obviously but based on group rides in 01, 02, and 03, I would put it way lower than that. Lots of rides where everyone had full gear.

...and most of the folk I've ridden w/ who weren't fully decked out have at LEAST a decent jacket / boots / gloves.

Have you seen me in my Fieldsheer Suit ??? Now thats Power Rangers !! Got a great deal on them and will use them for track days.. $ accually well spent, you may even see them on a few group rides this season.. Hey if it's going to save my skin, it's good in my book....

Oh & my experience with people riding in full gear last year was around 90%. Seems a lot of people I ride with ride hard and dress for the possibility of a mis-hap. I have seen a # of mishaps unfortunately, and can thankfully say that the proper riding gear has saved lots of unwanted loss of skin and minimal injury. If you want to play hard, you should seriously think about full riding gear.

I myself had a mis-hap last year and had absolutely no injury thanks to my riding gear. My poor cousins R6 needed more attn then I did!!

To each his own as to what you wear riding, I just dont like to see friends get hurt, or worse....

If it is going to last A lifetime........?And you get to see what you are buying without paying a premium if you don't like it or it simply does not fit! That really pisses me off!!! Like if I order a suit thru a mail order catalog, I'LL BUY IT IF I LIKE IT AND MOST IMPORTANT IF IT FITS! But why should I have to pay a restocking fee? Postage yes. But different manufacturers have different fits. Just like boots. I have to try several size nines on berfore one fits right.
