well considering that they don't want you to know who makes it and that Moto GP Kawasakis are green, and none of them are sponsored by Shell I'd skip this over.
This looks like one of those cheap leathers made in Pakistan or elsewhere...
I'd look for a known brand from a reputable dealer.

The only "intuitive" interface is the nipple.
However I think Mr. Hornet might be a little bit biased as he feels that you need to pay top dollar in order to get good quality gear. I see his point that you get what you pay for but there are happy mediums out there in which you don't have to spend that much $$.Originally posted by Green Hornet

Nobody's saying you need Vansons but I wouldn't want to buy it without at least knowing what the brand is.Originally posted by bigred875

At least with cheap well known brands like Teknic or Joe Rocket you can check up on reliability/quality record by asking other riders or just searching on google.
Ben
ur nevermind it sounds like I'm trolling... I have had some discussions about gear with Green and he feels strongly that you need to pay $500 for a helmet in order to get one that works....and that Teknic and Joe Rocket gear is crap..just stuff like that..which in some cases he is dead right. The more expensive leathers etc will hold up better but if you aren't racing the less expensive ones would work in a crash....maybe not 2 crashes..but most should hold up decent. Just my opinion..not trying to start an arguement...Originally posted by benSV

I agree with you red. I got good miles out of my Joe Rocket Cordura, it fell apart but it took a long time.
My Teknic suit looks like it would hold together for a long time if I'd actually worn it more. Stoneman races in a Teknic suit and it sounds like his has been fine.
$500 helmet and jeans IS stupid. Cheap full coverage gear is always going to be better than 1/2 coverage with good gear. You're only as protected as your worst piece of gear IMO.
I'm starting to think I'm just going to keep my gear since it's pretty good stuff. Whenever I jump ship back and pick up another motorcycle I'll still have it.
Ben
Ah...just for the record your Honor, I'd like to point out that a lot of people race at Loudon with Teknic suits...Originally posted by benSV

Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Haven't gone riding with anyone yet this year obviously but based on group rides in 01, 02, and 03, I would put it way lower than that. Lots of rides where everyone had full gear.Originally posted by Mystery Squid
That's probably what, 85-90% of the people on this board?

Ok, maybe 60-70% then, but only within the "big" group rides... A lot of the smaller groups I've ridden with are usually in jeans...

Joe...That jacket...Let me ask you if this song is familiar...
"Go, Go Power Rangers ! Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers"
Skip that jacket...Let the BIKE garner all the attention, not the "Hey look at me! I look like a street racer KNOB" riding gear.
Get yourself a nice, inexpensive BUT well made, Joe Rocket BLACK jacket...

If your going to spend $300 on a piece of shit Korean-made plastic jacket, spend another 30 on a NICE jacket, bro...
P.S. : Apologies to all the wanna-be "repli-racers" out there...Well, not really...![]()

Basically, I want a nice squidly race replica jacket such that I might be mistaken for one of the characters on Torque.
Anyone know of good places? Figured I'd throw this out here first so I don't get a bunch of, "Oh, you could have gotten this for XXXX less from XXXXX"

Oh & my experience with people riding in full gear last year was around 90%. Seems a lot of people I ride with ride hard and dress for the possibility of a mis-hap. I have seen a # of mishaps unfortunately, and can thankfully say that the proper riding gear has saved lots of unwanted loss of skin and minimal injury. If you want to play hard, you should seriously think about full riding gear.
I myself had a mis-hap last year and had absolutely no injury thanks to my riding gear. My poor cousins R6 needed more attn then I did!!
To each his own as to what you wear riding, I just dont like to see friends get hurt, or worse....

Yamaha
You enjoy riding...plan on riding as long as you possibly can?
What if you could buy a bike and have it last forever? Would you pay extra for it?
Good for one crash????? Than you gotta buy another one!
That would put you up in the price of the more expensive suit you should have bought in the first place!
Just like in helmets...how much is your head worth TO YOU?
Pay for a good suit now, or skin grafts later?
These are all the questions a I am asking myself now as I have been looking at leather. One problem for me anyways is size.
Order from a catalog, and if it don't fit, you send it back and it costs postage both ways and a 10% restocking fee!!!!!!!
Brokton Cycles has some awsome deals on Joe Rocket right now Joe! $399.00 for a two piece High Side.
I have also tried Dianese...nice...about $1000.00 for a good two piece. And then I went to Vanson...Awsome...the are having an Open House starting April 22nd. I plan on investing in Amercan made! There are some benefits to the Vanson that I like...but I usually spend money like an asshole when it comes to the stuff I like. Can't take it with ya you know. If it is going to last A lifetime........?And you get to see what you are buying without paying a premium if you don't like it or it simply does not fit! That really pisses me off!!!Like if I order a suit thru a mail order catalog, I'LL BUY IT IF I LIKE IT AND MOST IMPORTANT IF IT FITS! But why should I have to pay a restocking fee? Postage yes. But different manufacturers have different fits. Just like boots. I have to try several size nines on berfore one fits right.

I still love the smell of burnt racing fuel in the morning!
Gary I hear ya! I am definitly heading down to Vanson for the open house. I am in need of a pair of pants and might as well get some that go with my jacket! I will also head on down to Brockton Cyle to check out what they have in stock. Give me a call when you head down to Vanson, maybe we should make this a ride!
Also why aren't you going with us to Deals Gap?
