went on a ride today with a group on the SV forum, (some are members here too) we were going up from the conway side, I was riding right in front of our sweep, with one slower rider in front of me, as we got to the beginning of the twisty part, I passed the slower rider and picked up my pace quite a bit, as I neared the top, my radar detector started to go off, sure enuf, LEO had the 4 in front of me pulled over, I stopped, then the 2 behind stopped, he gave us a lecture, then let us go, he told us something about a foot race yesterday and a PT Cruiser going airborn

Airborne PT Cruiser!? That'd be a sight. How do you get the radar detector to work on a bike? Headphone?
How's the surface of that road? I've heard it was a real nice road but the surface was a little shitty?

I use a wafer speaker in my helmet, you can also get a screamer, then when it sounds off anybody within a ¼ mile will hear itOriginally posted by Aaron

it's pretty easy to get any vehicle airborn on this road

Is Hurican Mtn Rd in Intervale or is it part of Conway? If it is the road I'm thinking of I agree on how easy it is to get airborne. There is one section that is so steep it is almost difficult to keep your front wheel on the ground!
If you ride through you can see where all the cars have bottomed out after cresting one of the several "whoops" along the road.
your thinkin of the right road

I love that road, all the way up, my front wheel was skimming pavement at best, if feels like yer wheeling all the way upOriginally posted by beet

I took it easy on the way down, last time I was there, I got some air under both wheels, my suspension isn't up for that shit.

Seems like an odd place to be enforcing speed limits... what is the limit 5mph?
It's so steep you have a hell of a lot of fun at 20mph.
Try descending that road on a bicycle with the road 50% snow/ice in april... that's exciting! (If you are strong enough to ride up)
I lived on that road for 6 months, after finishing the kegs we'd bicycle up to the trail opening then hike to the top rocks to look at the stars around 2 in the morning.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Oh these were just the nights when we weren't nailing chicks in uncomfortable places. And I'm NOT talking about the back seat of a volkswagon.Originally posted by richw

you know, I don't think there is a speed limit posted.... means it's 35 by state lawOriginally posted by benVFR

I've only been up it once (on the VFR), I would have to say I wasn't going much faster than 30-35 max.
There are a few places you could go faster, but it is so steep I'm always scared of wheelying or catching air if I'm not careful.
There are a couple other roads I know of like that, but not too many.
Roads that are that steep I think I go faster downhill on the bicycle. Rt. 17 in Vermont is right on the borderline where the bicycle starts to feel easier to go fast on, but Rt. 17 has plenty of little 50 yard straight sections to blast up to speed on the motorcycle.
I think you're right Randy. I was looking for a speed limit sign on the way up and didn't see one...BTW I did hear you coming up behind us...I didn't know it was you at the time, but I was thinking to myself I hope they don't come over the hill catching some air while the cop is lecturing usyou know, I don't think there is a speed limit posted.... means it's 35 by state law![]()
