Because believe it or not, not all crashes are the result of people riding like tools on residential roads where they put people's kids, pets and property at risk. Occasionally there is something to be learned from a crash thread other than some people simply can't accept that a residential street, whether heavily populated or not, is not the place to do 80.

Dude don't sweat the negative comments too much, I would bet money that 90% of the people talking shit have blasted by a driveway doing 80+ and have done things on a bike that could be considered as endangering women and children lol. But this is nesr and and there is a lot of "im so awesome at riding so it's ok for me" attitudes.
you got it, this should be called new england track riders. if your not one of em your nobody. i dont have to act like im better just to make me feel good about myself, i am fine with who i am, you will never see me giving shit to someone for fucking up. im never on the offensive, but i do tend to get defensive. im not always in the right but ill admit it when im not,
Has nothing to do with the track. I spend 99.99999999999999% of my time riding on the street. Has everything to do with speeding on a residential road that you're unfamiliar with. What you did was foolish. I've absolutely done 80, 90, 115 on back roads, but I do it on the roads I know aren't populated, that I've traveled 100 times and in the middle of the day when I know no one will be around.
There is a time and a place for everything.

alright... maybe I missed it... but I'll say the same thing that I say to everyone that runs off in Turn 11 at Loudon and crashes in the grass...
Why didn't you roll through the the grass and then brake/turn when you got back on the pavement?
Oh I would have ripped the shit out of the road.
I was in a Not so Kind way suggesting that the fellow acquire some advanced riding skills if he chooses to Ride his motorcycle in an Advanced manner. It has nothing to with track riding or anything else.
And I bet 90% of the people who posted negative comments would have made that corner.

try practicing safe braking to overcome that instinct. yeah, grabbing a handful of rear brake is the instinct, but it's the wrong thing to do, as you've learned. not saying you could have made that turn at your speed regardless, but that just echos what some others said - ride within your limits and know the roads you're on. for those flaming the people trying to educate - there is something to be learned from each crash. to say it wasn't his fault or that others speed so it's ok does no one any good.
Just to be clear... the above wasn't a "dig".
We really do see people go into the grass all the time at the track (mainly in 11 and 1). Both of these sections have a piece of grass and then pavement on the other side.
I wonder if those that go down in the grass and those that ride through it is the difference between those that have ridden dirt bikes and those that have not?
I read the entire thread and while a lot of it is the normal stuff expected in these threads, I think there's obvious stuff missing.
MSF BRC + MSR ERC both teach braking, turning and looking out for the unexpected. The ARC would also help.
Assume the worst is going to happen around every corner and prepare for it with parking lot practice for emergency braking and tight figure eights. You can always add throttle when the blind corner turns out better than expected.
I'm not trying to preach, but I do want to say that there's a lot that a rider can do to improve without " taking it to the track."
Riding consciously and aggressively is like any other sport, playing well requires practicing specific skills so that they are second nature when needed.
To the OP, don't sweat the flaming, but please take away from your first crash the need to work on very specific skills that will enable you to avoid another crash when a combination of unexpected conditions and excessively exuberant throttle application create the next "oh shit" moment. We all have them.
Yep, that's pretty deceptive, especially at speed.
Road looks pretty tight to me for 80mph, but most of the time I'm riding my 700+ lb. cruiser... imagine approaching this section at 80...
... on that ride!![]()

I can't imagine being any faster than 50-55 at that point. And the limit is probably what, 35? But maybe I'm just a pussy. I am also incredibly paranoid about LEO attention.
This thread (okay, site) is full of internet tough guys/girls that do everything perfectly and always know the answer. Don't sweat it.
How do you grab a handful of rear brake? I think my bike is broken.

I have zero dirt bike experience and have taken a few detours onto the grass at nhms and just knew not to brake thankfully I managed to keep the rubber side down. I think after you hit the grass at the track you realize it is a viable option if you are taking a corner too hot.
Wow from the pictures that road really is deceptive. I speed sometimes too, but I fallow a general rule of thumb and keep my speeds a set amount above the limit because there will be turns coming up that need to be reduced to maybe 10-20mph above the limit so keep it to 30mph(65-75 for that road?) over on the straights at most so you can drop to 10 over quickly if needed. I might have crashed too going 90 down that road, if I could keep my cool I would have as 1 person suggested gone off roading and kept going straight.
Good post I really like crash posts because it helps me learn what not to do. The people who say learn to ride probably are just blowing smoke and don't know how to ride nearly as good as they think they do. Just because you've never crashed doesn't mean it won't happen in the future. What I get out of this post is: don't speed excessively on unfarmiliar roads, Always wear gear its important and saves your skin, and keep your cool and be ready for anything. I don't get learn to ride and get 1000hours of track time so yiu can go 165 on that road.
Theres two kinds of riders those that have gone down and those that will go down.
Sorry to here it man. it happens to the best of us. I use to crash every new bike...straight 4 of them. not anymore. guess i got new luck![]()
Dude we drive on the right. Was this corner in England? or is this a one way road?
Maybe if you took the picture from the right side of the road we could see how evil this corner is.

This place is polite compared to the Advrider Face Plant forum.
But can anyone here ever top "Taken out by a Dum Blonde?" Or hitting a burro at 65mph two-up? "Rear ended by a lawnmower?"
Reading post-mortems is good. And why I wear a hi-viz jacket now. At my age, if I go to the hospital it's 50/50 I'm coming out feet first.
