Rollin rt 57 east towards Southwick came around a corner at about 70mph and hit a spot in the road where they had patched and didn't fill it to match the rest of the road. Front tire caught the lip which was about an inch high and that was the end the front wheel came up and when it touched again the wobble came after that. Well you can guess from there. The bike slid well over 100 ft on the exhaust side, my jacket, helmet and gloves are toast. I walked away with minor scratches. Thank God for protective gear. The bike rubbed through the oil pump cover bolts and has a slow leak but $130 will fix all the problems except the scratches on my lower fairings. Here are pics of my apparel.
Forgive me LORD for I have sinned, I hit a fourth gear jump with fifth gear pinned.

Hmm....glad you're doing better Jerry.
Mister here rode his bike all the way to my house, and while I was sitting on my patio watching the kids swim, he enters the backyard and scare the shit out of me, his first words "V, I need your help!". Poor guy and his friend were still shaking...lol I went rushing inside to get some Bactine to disinfect and numb some of the road rash he had...I called Stephan who was dirtbike riding in CT and he came home, put Jerry's bike on the trailer and we brought him home.
Time for gear shopping, all this stuff you had is done.![]()

I think the city should be liable. Every year they're doing a worse and worse job patching and paving roads. I can't even do 20MPH down the road my work is on since they did work on it.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
and thats why we wear gear, glad to hear ur alright

Good to see ur in one piece. Everyone been sayin that damn crow was an omen. No pics of the stump that was a frame slider? That thing did its job for sure. Your bike slid way more than 100 feet. I'm thinkin 100 yards with it goin down hill and havin a 70+ push to get it started. Seemed like I was followin it for ever. What town were we in there? The hwy dept needs to fix that. That was what 1.5 inch difference between the new and old pavement on a sharp turn? Exise taxes hard at work there.
Damn Jerry, sorry to hear that, glad you're okay though. That R6 was goddamn sweet, hope you get her fixed up.
Also, I have those same gloves, makes me feel better to know they'll actually work![]()

good to see the gear did its job and the damage was minimal
From what you guys said, you were either in Feeding Hills, or just entering Southwick. If you can give me some marks of where you were at, I'd be able to tell you. (gas station, farm stand, etc.) Altho I don't remember seeing bad road condition in that area, I drive thru there almost on a daily basis.I know it's a nice road to rip for the nice twisties, but I believe the speed limit is 35, maybe 40 mph, and there is always traffic on there, often a few drivers get into YOUR track in a turn and almost hit you. You have to be very carefull. :/

This thread REALLY makes me want to get better gear![]()
Glad to hear you're OK. The gear did it's job and destroyed itself to help you out. Even if you have to replace every piece of gear - it's cheaper then the ambulance ride, hospital visit, lost work, etc.
You did get really lucky with the damage to the bike - I've seen slower slides that have totaled bikes.

I don't know how many roads I've seen where neglect or just lack of common sense could cause some serious crashes for as bike. Near my house they are doing construction on the road. There are a couple spots where there is no warning and all of a sudden a motocross drop off. At night I couldn't see it and that cam e close to being ugly. Thank god for my dirt background!
Jerry, you should find out what town you were in and tell them they are paying. That's definitely a case of neglect...oh but leave out the 70mph part that might hurt your case. lol Now fix your damn bike I want to ride!

Glad to hear you are ok and that you were wearing gear!
We all know the towns and the companies they are hiring to do road work are doing less then steller work on the roads, this has been the case for years. This is a state wide problem that will probably never be fixed since the politicians we elect can't get their heads out of their asses long enough to fix the problems. However, it's not the towns fault you crashed though, it's your fault for traveling faster then the speed limit and not being able to react properly to the road conditions. You are fortunate that you were not hurt! Take the lesson, replace the parts, get new gear and get on the track where there are no speed limits.
You were wearing full gear? pshh pussy...
haha. glad to hear your ok, and I'm glad the bike will survive as well.
