    That's terrible!

Hope the others are going to be okay.

No way of knowing yet but from the video, looks like the truck didn't stop.

    that's what i'm thinking.

seeing stuff like this scares me.

never stopping and putting bike in neutral ever again. gonna stay in first until i see a nice pile of cars line up behind me as a barrier.

I'm not giving any advice. I'm just asking how many people stop in neutral at an intersection.

i already knew this but i've done the neutral thing so many times. squiddish but i just stop with all my boys, pop into neutral, and shoot the shit. especially when there are like 6 of us. apparently there could be 10 and that doesn't help from somebody not seeing you. now i'm going to get all paranoid of getting assfucked by a semi at every stop light.

oh, and i'll stop in first ... wait a bit, and then put it into neutral. but really, you have to wait all the way until you have a barrier of cars protecting you. even if there are no cars behind you, according to the accident above, you'd have to still keep it in first until it's time to go again.

Know I shouldn't but I do. I do however always try to be not inliine with the car infront of me so I'll get hit into space.

An honest answer!! Thanks guys. I'm super-paranoid about it but when you spend 15 weekends a year drilling it into people it tends to stick in your own head. I actually see the page from the book with the intersection picture in my head when I stop at an intersection, lol.

In gear, eyes on mirror - every single time. Seen too many 'oshit' looks on the driver behind to do anything else.

I do flash my brake light though. It's good to think about these things. I'll have to go over what I do when I'm on the bike next time. I know I don't kick it into N right away but I wonder how long I wait.

I keep it in gear until there are a few cars behind me. I never used to do it, until I became an MSF coach.

Re: damn, crazy motorcycle accident in arizona

I just recently started riding in a location where I have to deal with lights on a regular basis (mid-state VT didnt really prepare me for that) and I have put my bike in neutral once or twice to adjust my gloves/bag/jacket... I honestly never gave it thought, but I'm extremely attentive to cars in every direction all the time with an eye on the mirror and such and I don't recall doing it other than when cars were already stacked up behind me.

This, however, serves as a good wake-up call for me....The more you know, the better...

I stay in gear, unless I am waiting there for a long time.

In gear, eyes in the mirrors, off to a side to leave myself an out. And I have taken my out more than once. If no cars are coming up behind me, I do put it into neutral. But my eyes are always in my mirrors.

In gear, off to the right rear of the car in front of me or the middle of a two lane. I keep looking back until a few cars pull up behind me, then look forward and keep an eye on escape routes till green light, scan left and right then proceed.

If their is one thing that sticks in my head from the msf class its keeping it in gear at lights. but i have a question for the msf coaches if someone is coming up on you and they dont stop what are we supposed to do? roll out into the intersection where traffic is prob moving or try to get over to the side?

Have a strategy ready. Depends on the intersection but be ready to move forward and/or left/right.
