Here's one more:
If you crash and the bike and you are both unharmed, still wait for the control riders or instructors to arrive (usually between 1 seconds but no more than one minute) and check things out before you go back onto the track. You may not be the best person to judge wheteher you or the bike are truely okay to continue.
I just hope people are differentiating between racing and trackdays with this thread.
At a trackday, if someone goes by you at all, you should never re-pass for at least 2 corners.
This will give both riders time to sort out their true speed. If the passer did it solely because of horsepower and really should not have passed, the passee will easily be able to hang with that person... and then pass them back when the big horsepower guy takes a peek behind him on the straight.
Ideally, in the situation above, the big horsepower guy should not have made the pass in the first place. Better to watch the smaller horsepower guy in a few corners to see if you're really faster.
To me, trackday riding is all about being courteous and using your head. You shouldn't do back and forth passing on the road, and you shouldn't do it a trackday.
As for racing or race practice... no comment from me. That's stuff is scary.![]()
I'll tell ya what else is dangerous...
Crashing in 11 then getting up and going to your bike IN THE LINE in 11a, picking it up and standing there waiting for traffic to clear so you can finish the race.
What I should have done, at the LEAST is to move the bike out of the racing line, even if that meant pushing it into the grass. Thankfully people (Experts) had room to go around me, it could have ended up worse but I learned a valuable lesson.

I think alot of this occurs by getting "emotional" about
the passing. I would say if you are passed, let it go.
Your ego is going to be ok.
If you are faster somewhere else then pass back later.
But dont fight as the pass happens. Heck, in Blue I get passed all the time.
At first it bugged me. Now its just my reality!
When one passes and the other is not going to allow it
then you can get into a situation where two people are now going to
a narrow apex both trying to out late brake the other.
This to me is NOT a track day thing.
Though, I can see it being fun if both know what they are doing and you are racing !

Have heard this repeated from couple different track day organizations.
If you are still on the track after you crash...and have your wits about you, DONT jump up and try and run across. It's better to crawl quickly according to many. The damage from another rider hitting you if you are upright is worse than if you are prone.
On the other hand, you are a bigger targer, harder to see, if you are crawling. Not sure where I come down on this one....

OHH I stayed on the ground! Did a quick check of myself and looked up the track to make sure there was no traffic coming. There wasn't so I ran to the bike, got it up on 2 wheels again and looked up track again to see traffic coming.
My mistake was I just sat there instead of backing it up out of the racing line and onto the grass.![]()

OOO! thanks for that info.
"fuckit!"
If I ran into a guy that keeps parking it, I just pit in, wait 30 seconds, and then go back out. I'm there to have a good time, and not have to deal with these Yeee Haa's with big HP, passing me, and then screwing me up entering the corners. Ok, I'll admit I did happen to drift, (block) a guy now and then...but they are hell bent to get by you, just to watch them white knuckle it into the corners.
Too old to rock and roll, too young to die.
We should get Air horns on our bikes and if some dude is parking it in the corners give em a Blast.![]()

On the subject of parking in the corners: Does no one take these riders aside and kindly suggest to them a different riding approach/ ettiquette?
Egos aside, if one can't handle critique then what's the point of trying to become a better rider via trackdays?
I'm not saying chastise the rider, rather, offer helpful information for their guidance and everyone's safety.
I, for one, would welcome constuctive criticism if I were killing someone's ride...it'd be nice to know where I need to be in order for others to enjoy their day in the turns. Afterall, how's someone supposed to be aware of what they're doing wrong if the more experienced riders aren't offering the information?
...jus' thinking out loud here...
I don't know of anyone that intentionally "parks it" in the corners... we're on the track, the point is to learn how to ride. The control riders and instructors are there to help you along w/ that process, both by riding with you and leading classroom sessions.
If any of the control riders or instructors sees a rider that needs a little extra attention, yes, they will probably get approached and helped out accordingly.
