Damn! I hope your alright! That wasn't at all what I was expecting.
Next time, change your display to metric and it'll seem like your going even faster...
Well, that was a warm up lap
and yea, I am pretty lost what happened.
I was taking it easy to warm the tires up, and it just started raining, but I feel like I was going SO SLOW.
On my ride home, I found out my rear tire was flat. I filled it, and it has already lost air. Now the question is, is it doing this because I went down, or was it doing it before?
Before my run, I adjusted my rear pressure to 30 psi.
Bike isnt too bad, left plastics have seen better days, but they werent perfect anyway.
clutch lever broke, and rearset is toast.
I bought a clutch lever onsite and put my passenger peg on the front and bent out my shift lever to limp it back home.
I'd like to know why my rear tire isn't holding air now though.
And that was my first time down after about 4 or 5 years of riding and about 10,000 miles :o

Well, I rode it home, but I was done with the track for the day. It was sooooo slick with the rain.
I can't believe how many people I told, "But I wasn't going that fast, it was a warm up...."
my neck is killing me today
edit: and "how quick it happens" is an understatement. It felt like I got spear tackled from my right side it went down so quick. It was right out of no where.
Wow! What the hell happened? That sux man.

That spot on the track is notoriously slick when wet. the trick is to get your steering input done before you get to that patch, and I like to run as tight a line as I can to get inside that slick spot. Most people go outside of it, but then the nascar oval is slick as hell out there.
It takes quite a lot of laps to learn Loudon in the wet. Don't beat yourself up over it.
Thanks man, I took it pretty well, it wasnt all that scary. The safety equipment did its job. I just would feel better if it wasnt a warm up lap. Im just frustrated cause I was purposefully taking it easy, thats the only thing thats really bothering me at this point. I think I'd feel better if I was pushing it and went down. Heh, oh well.
Im gonna order some new rearsets, mine were stock, so this is agood excuse to get some!
Turn 2 is a slick one especially when it gets wet. Ive had my share of moments through there in the rain.
Taking it easy doesnt mean youre going to make it. Just ask Jeff Wood. Broke a few bones there in June letting someone one by for a qualifying lap.
yeah, I guess.
I wish I knew you guys better, now is the perfect moment for, "I WENT DOWN LIKE XXXX'S GIRLFRIEND ON PROM NIGHT!"
heh
I've actually felt my rear tire spin up on that turn when it was dry.

The only thing I can see as possibly wrong is how much the bars turned when you fell.
That might indicate that you were doing some fairly heavy bar inputs at that moment?
This is the thing I struggle with the most... and work on the most.... when I'm riding.
My goal is to barely feel the handgrips. Wrap your right hand around two or three fingers of the other hand. Squeeze tight and then release... do this several times until you can feel the difference. You'll also feel the difference in the entire right arm when you're relaxed.
My goal is to relax my entire upper body, from my shoulders all the way to my hands. When I'm riding however, I sometimes miss the fact that I'm a little tense in my arms and shoulders.. but I can always tell when I'm gripping the bars tightly... and that is my cue to relax.
I did the same thing in Turn 3, it's really tricky riding in the rain. There were certainly enough people going down yesterday to prove it!

I'm ok, thanks Sheppo! And it was a little on the morbidly entertaining side to watch my bike slam into the NASCAR tires.I only broke the brake lever and scraped the bike a bit, but I was able to fix it and get back out there. I called it a day a little early though, because I almost wiped out again in Turn 6.
Anywayz, I'll be at Motorcycle Night Tuesday, or I can stop by BMS at some point next week.

I agree completely that riding in the rain is tricky.
I believe the toughest thing about yesterday was the varying conditions. If it was wet all day, then I think people would have been better able to judge conditions.
Unfortunately, a couple of sessions started dry, and had rain start... that's when we usually get the most crashes.![]()
That sucks man. I didn't realize you were on NESR. I came over to talk to you as you were finishing up getting the RC back together. I was corner working T3 when you went down so I didn't get to see what happened first hand. Glad you are ok and were able to ride the bike home.
Another NESR member I met yesterday but had no idea.I was the guy who pushed your bike back through the gate. Glad you came out your crash ok. T3 was a pretty busy area yesterday.
glad your alright, you'll shake this off in no time.
Watching the video, i can't believe the bike stepped out so badly like that when you were being fairly smooth and taking it easy.

I came SOOOOO close to losing it coming out of 2 yesterday. The rear spun up, bike goes sideways, I plant my left foot on the pavement and by some act of god, save it.....That was enough for me....Packed it up and went home in one piece, which was my goal since my last track day I wadded it up in turn 3 in the complete dry...
