Daytona seating, who's watched a race there?

I going to Daytona for the first time this March with my dad. We'll be doing the bike week thing. I've told him we're spending at least one day at the track. (probably two) My question is what's a good place to watch from? I'm checking Daytona's site and the available tickets are:

    Petty Tower $45ea

    Infield/Grandstands $45ea

    Sprint Tower $45ea

    Earnhardt Tower $45ea

    Grandstands Only $30ea

Any suggestions/input would be a great help. Also, if you know of any other race related things I should experience, that would be great too. (or anything for that matter going on that week) I think we'll be doing the parade lap around the track too. Will I be able to get into the infield like at Loudon and walk by the garages and teams?

I am too lazy to look at Daytona's site to see what section I sat in BUT it was where they came through the tri oval on the front stretch and turned left into the infield, GREAT seats. High Speeds into a flat corner. I did walk around too It's hard with a track that large.

We stayed on the infield in a Cruise America camper and had a roofdeck. From there we walked everywhere and there was some pretty serious partying at night too.
    Lots of fun.

Oh and I go to drive the camper on the track the night we got there. True story.

The infield gets you closest to the action, but it's best to walk around. Grand stands are nice but the bikes are going so fast and you're far away so you have a hard time seeing who is who. If you're at start-finish the buildings block any of the infield. I would go infield again. It's not the best place to watch a race because it's so big.

Probably the best place I found to watch the races was in the infield. There are a couple of places in the infield that are good.

    1) when you come in under the tunnel that goes under NASCAR turn one, go left and find a set of bleachers that winds up being on the inside of turn 6. (This is best when they are running the old configuration not sure if it is any good when they run the new course) Top row of course just for better viewing.

    2) the bleachers on the inside of the dogleg coming out of the international horseshoe (or the east end horseshoe depending on who you ask) Top row lets you see most of the infield and look back onto the back straight for the passing into the chicane.

    3) the bleachers at the international horseshoe top row same reasons as above.

    4) the pit area. Down side to this is you need credentials and they may or may not be hard to come by.

    5) At the bottom of the East end banking, NASCAR 3 and 4. It's pretty bad ass watching bikes go by way up on the banking at speed.

    Have fun down there.

    Thanks for the input!

I'll show this to my dad and see what he thinks.

Feel free to add more though!

for CCS the credentials can be obtained at the registration building at Gate 40 (Right before the T1 tunnel). Depending on what day you are looking at $60 to get in. Cannot comment on the AMA credentials the following weekend.

Loun got in the paddock with the $15 infield ticket, im not sure how as the gate guard in the paddock wants to be shown the daytona credential in my experience.
