I also have the GP techs, before I bought them I had the Alps SP-1 gloves. I had heard and read that you want to buy the GP techs a size larger than normal. My SP-1's were medium so I took a chance and ordered the tech's in a large. Perfect. If I had got them in a medium, I'd be trying to resell them.
So, excellent gloves, I like them a lot. Just make sure if you do the ebay thing, you know what size to get...maybe you've tried 'em already or know of a local shop that carries them.
Then you want these.
I'm not sure about that.... with the phantoms, the rigid plating behind the wrist makes it so that my wrist cannot bend back past a certain point when the gloves are on and tight. That's worth a little something, in my book.
I bought mine fom sportbiketrackgear... the guys were very nice.
The phantoms list for 295, STG lists them for 280, and I got them to sell them to me for 230. I think it was a great deal.

I am a proponent for trying things on before you buy em. Gloves can and fit like helmets. Lond fingers, short fingers, fat skiny, pressure points. It all will matter when you are out there.
My choice is and they still make them are:
=M= Motophoria =M=Continuum Race Glove.

side note: i used my gp techs today for the first time. gloves were great, feel was great. only small thing i noticed was the hard cuff took a little more effort to get over my jacket cuff. My jacket is an icon jacket so the cuff is probably a little bit looser then some of the track oriented stuff. but overall great gloves.

I own a pair of icon Merc gloves, very comfy, carbon fiber armor and good feel, and they are gauntlet style. Not crash tested but I like them alot.
My brother has the Racer Supply RSC2 gloves. He's had three crashes, albeit, three low speed ones and they still look new. Not bad for a glove he only paid $30 for.
Although some type of of Helds will be my next next glove purchase. Everyone speaks so highly of them, they must be good. I wouldn't get my MotoGP gloves again. They protected my hands through one crash but the fingers were all ripped open since the stiching is on the outside. They did their job but I wouldn't trust them in a higher speed crash.
I had A* GP Tech i think it was... lasted 1.5 seasons with zero crashes. stitches popped to shit (1st pair i returned after 1wk for same issue and got free replacement). have 2+ on my joe rocket speedmaster 5.0 pair and one low speed crash and they are still mint. only thing is no linked fingers.
