Well I just got a phone call from my friend saying that he traded in his beautiful 2005 ninjaZX6R for a harley. Now granted we went and checked out the harley over the weekend and its very nice. A Sportster 1200 custom anniversary edition. Its just sad to see that sweet ninja go by the wayside so quickly. So now of my friends with bikes instead of being 3 sportbikers to 1 harley we are even at 2 to 2. Damn.
Hey it's probably what he wanted to be riding the whole time if he did it.
I don't think people just change their mind all that easily. You either love sportbikes, or you love cruisers.
If you don't care about going fast or cornering you're going to get pretty sick of a ZX-6R with it's sky high powerband, small size, etc... He was probably riding around all this time going, "I wish I got a cruiser."
Don't drink the same water as he does, obviously it is lowering his IQ.
Get new friends

Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I promise you he'll be bored with in a month and want a sportbike again. I had a friend do the same thing a few years ago. He sold his GSXR-750 for a Suzuki cruiser. He lasted all of 7 weeks on the crusier and traded it for a CBR 929RR.

I love riding with Hardleys. They always have spare room in those side cases for me to drop layers as the day gets warmer, cops typically harras cruisers less than sportbikes (he's out front on boring straight roads), its fun watching the sparks fly as he tries to lean thru turns, other Hardley guys wave (at least till they see me following and then the hand goes down real quick), I always get to lead on twisty roads, if I break down (yeah, it happened once) I get a nice phat ride home on the back, and they make my Triumph look like a rocket ship. Now, if I can only get him to wear more protection than a skull cap and a t-shirt he might live longer. And put those damn stock pipes back on, it sounded fine!
I don't want to ride a HD, but I want one to ride with me.
no truer words have been spoken. HD tag-along riders should come in some package deal when dealers sell anything other than an HD.I don't want to ride a HD, but I want one to ride with me.
cops don't bother HDs because it's part of the whole macho culture they are an integral part of and becuase the HD riders are usually their fellow cops who just happen not to be on shift at that moment.
...just sittin here thinkin,
they took THAT in trade? HELL YEA!
They gladly took it in trade, you can be sure of that.
Its prolly all torn apart and h.d. it doing research on it right now as we speak.
They need to do something to get there junks to run right, and what better bike to look into, is something that just about runs forever, a jap bike.
The only thing is...now the resale value on "the junk" will more then triple!
Tell your friend that he is riding more kawi now then he ever was...
Amerijap piece of...WOW, did you see they are asking for this???
" Never create what you can't control "
I love em both. .. I'm more partial to sportbikes but I have just as much fun sometimes taking my pops VTX1800 out for a cruise. gotta say though, I'm Not a fan of harleys.Originally posted by benVFR

This is another unfortunate but absolutely True statement. Sport bikes are magnets to cops, (damn squids doing wheelies with flip flops in traffic). On the other hand , you could be cruisin on a fat boy with one hand at your side, wearing a braincatcher helmet, and you wont even get a stare.Originally posted by sanfelice

Well I know that he wanted to have both a sportbike and harley but when it came down to it he was a couple K short of being able to afford both. I'm just a little bummed that now instead of being able to leave one of my friends in the dust as two of us ride the twisties it will be both of them behind me...oh wait...that'll be fun. No, I really am happy he got the bike he wanted I just hope he gets another sportbike sometime soon as well. I would love to be able to have the scratch to have two bikes myself but thats not gonna happen anytime soon.
I always thought sportsters were considered chick bikes![]()

the only one i liked was the harley street-rod.
Has anybody seen that harley drag bike? I read about it in one of the bike mags a month or two ago and that thing hauled some ass. It was off of a v-rod platform?
