Yesterday I was sitting at a red light in traffic. As the light turns green and I roll thru the light the traffic starts to slow down again for another light not too far away. I move over to the left side of my lane to see a couple cars ahead and this lady in an SUV just drives rite by me, IN THE SAME LANE.
It was like i wasnt even there. There was no where for me to turn left so it was obvious I wasnt turning. I really think she wasnt paying attention and didnt even see me. I'm really puzzled as to what she was thinking.
I role up behind her at the next red light. Kind of pissed off, I wanted to go bang on her window and say "what the fuck where you doing?". But it was a busy intersection and i figured it wasnt worth it.
I'd like to think saying something would make them pay more attention, but they'd probably forget and continue driving like douchebags.
Makes me want to stick to the track.
I almost got tagged by someone yesterday who thought my lane looked a whole lot better than his, even with me already in it. The sad thing is most cagers have NO idea what they just did, so yelling at them, or flipping them off, or if youre the violent kind taking a mirror off does nothing except make them hate bikes more. I dont think anyone out there does what they do PURPOSELY in any of our close calls (or at least the vast majority) they just dont even see us or recognize us, so yelling and stuff really does nothing.
Ummm isn't a Cagers referd to as a Stunt bike not a auto.....meaning the bike has a cage on it like 905 or SI???????????
discuss this??

A swift boot to the car door if they're close enough usually gets their attention damn quick. Otherwise I just try to stay the fuck away from idiots in cages.

I had the same thing happen to me on Tuesday, douche just came rolling up next to me, so I turned to her and politely asked "what the fuck are you doing you moron?" She stayed at least 100 feet away from my back tire from then on.
That however is just one out of a billion dumbass drivers out there. Just try and stay away from them as much as possible.

You handled it perfectly. It's a zero sum game to try and react to this kind of ignorance. Unless you actually have an opportunity to have a calm, rational discussion with the offender, the likelyhood of educating the driver is nil...and worse, the probability of it escalating into something really bad is high.
Its the hardest thing in the world to stifle self-righteous indignation...believe me, I know!!!
I had a guy pull out in front of me and I was wearing this...
I beeped my horn and went on my way...

I saw a guy that had a some yellow magnets on his tank that he would toss on the offending vehicle. It was a very nice paragraph that stated that the vehicle driver had done something that endangered the life of a motorcyclist and that this was a way of informing that driver to please pay more attention to riders. It was pretty cool. I don't carry any, but I think it's a neat way to get your point across without putting yourself at more risk. As stated many times before, the majority of these drivers have no idea that they cut us off, so yelling at them or kicking in their door, just puts them on the offensive, and makes them become "Bikers" and "Crotch Rocket" haters because the aren't aware of there offense.

This time of year (beginning of the riding season) people cagers
are not yet used to seeing us on the road. I know that some
act this way year round, but if I notice someone on my ass and
raring to get in front of me, i move over and let them by.
I've already been tagged with reckless driving b/c i lost my temper (in the car)
and 3 months with no license, $1k in fines made me realize that when on the
road it's important to just keep your cool.
Wow, I thought we were in for a whole lot of
"kill the mother" replies! People here are properly taking their meds !
Yeah after a while you realize the best thing is to just
get away. That's why I like to lane split so I can go off
into the distance. Bikes can lose big time in a road rage situation.
I usually tend to give them a what's up with that hand signal
and be off.

I keep one of these on my tank at all times. They are the right action in my estimation. Satisfies the need to do something, doesn't further endanger anyone.
It's also good to learn to control anger in these situations. When I was a bicycle messenger in San Francisco crazy things happened all the time. I used to get pretty P.O.'ed. It never did me any good. On some occasions it made things worse.
I once kicked a guys rear view mirror off the passenger door of the car and left it hanging by the control cables. This was after nearly being creamed into Jersey barriers. It now makes an OK story, it was satisfying but I would never, ever do it again.
Who knows, dude could have been packing. He might be so pissed he kills the next cyclist or someone at home. Stupid of me, really.

Heh, today I had to put up with the opposite. As I pulled off I95 at the south bound Biddeford exit, I had a grey Busa ride the left hand white line to get around me. I could have rolled down my window and played 'patty cake' with the guy and neither of us would have had to have shifted in our seats to do it. I don't think his two riding buddys were amused based on the looks on their faces as I moved right into the break down lane on the ramp to give them room to keep up with Squidly McHurryup.
Its not like I drive all that slow either, or wasn't aware of them. They had been behind me, maintaining a reasonable distance right up till the turn into the exit. I didn't slow down as I entered (it's a fun ramp, even in a car) but Mr Busa had to make a pass I guess.
It was more fun watching as they got to the end of the ramp, and Mr Busa had to pull over and wait for his buds to tell him where they were going and how to get there. : )
Fess up time, which of you was it? (The tag alongs were a green Kawi, guessing a 600, and an HD. The HD rider needs to be taught not to let off the gas mid corner... he was trying to keep up but kept backing off the throttle, getting that poor HD squirley. I put even more distance between us than I normally give bikers honestly expecting to see an accident unfold.)
The magnets are a cool idea, but it does require you to get really close... Anyone who sees you throwing it will likely get the wrong idea, too...
I dunno. I like the idea in theory, but in reality the best thing to do is ride in such a way as to minimize the potential for danger/confrontation and do your best to let it slide when it happens. The laws of physics don't care who's in the right... when a car and a bike go to war the bike NEVER wins.
yep the sharing lane happended to me once last year. fuckin older lady and good looking young lady. wtf can you do? there was a young young punk pulled in front of me on route 3 on purpose because i was in the breakdown lane and i almost dumped it. wtf can you do again? on top of all these, you're likely to get pulled over for something. is it worth being on bike anymore? i hate everybody else.
"fuckit!"
yeah...thats what I thought.... I guess it is time to pull up your skirt and go get it.....lol
I'll make sure I go nice and slow by your building just to make it all better for you!!!!
So who is the hottie who likes wearing fishnets to work there!!!! Inquiring minds want to know.
