Its ridiculous how many skid marks go straight off the road into the woods when coming into a turn at the Gap. I'd be willing to bet he was going a little too fast for his comfort level and didn't even try to turn in when he saw how sharp the turn was.
no matter what the cause, that sucks!

Doesn't look like he crashed at all probably because the bike couldn't fall over any more, just took him forever to get back on the right side of the road.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
...crash looks inevitable to me...and probably pretty ugly too

he probaly realized getting his knee down would hurt wearing those jeans. So he decided to do some quick geometry in his head and came to the conclusion that the quickest way around that corner was bouncing off the blazer

Went riding there last weekend, lot of salt on the road but lots of people riding. I focused on 28 ... freshly surfaced and a fricken sweet ride all the way into GA. Also the road from Robbinsville to the 'hala has one sweet paving job done to it.
Did Blood Mountain for the first time. That was awesome. Do it on a week day and make sure your bike passes inspection cause the SD there took a lesson from THP and are cracking down hard on sportbikers. I have heard as much as 9 citations from one stop. Lots more deaths there than on the dragon. Not a place to go on a weekend.
The 'hala had some snow and ice in some places but that melted off quick in the 70+ days we had on the weekend.
Daffodils are out and grass is getting green ... spring is here!

If loud pipes save lives, imagine what learning to ride would do.

I witnessed a Harley go right off the road down near the dragon on Happy Valley RD which is a pretty cool road with a cool hairpin in it.
Well anyways they were coming down the mountain, in my lane, guy freaked, stood it up....................right off a 75 foot drop. The front wheel went off, threw his wife off the back like a slingshot. We get off she's out cold under some tree, he's pinned under a tree. His three buddies just standing there, while me Halfsquid, and TheIglu try tu pull the bike off him.
Not a fun day. Some folks just don't belong down there!!!!!
CURRENTLY when can we come and stay with you and have a tour of your best roads. Name the week!!!

After my wife is gone to NH for the summer. Probably after Memorial Day.
She will be at Calef Lake with the grandkids and I'm gonna be the batchelor for 4 and a half months.

How come the cops are not out there 24/7? Think of the number of out of state tickets they could write. I just don't get it. Killboy, tons of internet sites. It would be like shooting fish in a barrel. All the youtube videos. Like WTF?
What are the local cops and staties? Idiots?
How many people have been killed or crippled there? Not a few I bet.

I hear that there's a significant presence from the LEO community all the time there now. A little bit less at the beginning of the week, but still there. Too many crashes and what not for them to be able to ignore it.
Seriously, there are forums, like BORN and SVrider that are going down there and practically selling tickets. It's like Burning Man, cool until 1998, but it's waaaay over now.
It's like a magnet for every idiot with a speed hump on his street leathers.
It would be like if there was thousands of people we're saying "hey, let's head to Springfield, MA and do acid on the top of the parking garage!' but only a few dozen were jumping off the roof and maybe 3-4 were getting killed.
I can't see how it goes on.

I woulda done the same thing if that dude in the chevy tried to bang my wife...aha, nice hip check, doesn't look like a hockey rink though

It's a cool place. We stopped on the way home from Indy after the GP races last year. I was glad I went and checked it out. Got up early enough to ride it in the dark the next morning, which was cool. I wouldn't want to be there on a weekend though.
Weather was a little murky, but dry so we had the place pretty much to ourselves. We made a point to mention to ourselves that we have a track day at NJMSP's Thunderbolt in just a few short weeks. Oh and then there was still the ride home to worry about.
We rode it like a pack of grandma's on Piaggio's. And I'm ok with that![]()
