    drop in MC insurance

    $53 less than last year $240/yr $250k/$500k/$250k liability $100 deductible on collision, ACV on comprehensive $3k gear, etc. on 3 vehicles '16 K-Pipe, '22 AK550 and '15 UXV450i

I also have my Tractor on a compact tractor policy with Progressive that went down $49 this year, and truck, premium this year hasn't come due yet

I drive/ride so few miles annually now, insurance is my highest portion of cost per mile

    Re: drop in MC insurance

I've had Progressive moto coverage for over a decade and mine went up 48% this year with the same 6 vehicles and same (high) liability coverage so I pulled historical data and shopped around. I'm still getting the best rate but even auto rates in this state have gone up dramatically, I guess I should be thankful that in 6 years it still dropped 23%. When I called I get a blanket statement about how it's calced based on accident rate and "other factors". I've never made a claim and have no recorded incidents.

Year Premium Change $ Change %
    2020 $507.80
    2021 $351.56 $(156.24) -30.8%
    2022 $313.56 $(38.00) -10.8%
    2023 $362.56 $49.00 15.6%
    2024 $337.32 $(25.24) -7.0%
    2025 $264.56 $(72.76) -21.6%
    2026 $390.56 $126.00 47.6%

Sure, but in my case it fluctuates each year. It has gone down and up with an overall decrease of 23% in the timeline above. In theory, the claim rate is increasing with the population and combine that with inflation of parts prices, labor rates, medical, etc. Part of me would expect insurance cost to go up each year but I'd also expect that to be offset by vehicle depreciation if fully covered and incentives to keep the customer from submitting claims.

I'd encourage you to do a similar trend analysis assuming same coverage and vehicles.

Then a decrease should be expected each year you don't file a claim assuming no other changes to the policy.

    Re: drop in MC insurance

I always thought it was my age that helped my insurance prices drop. Back when I was in my 20’s, it was $2,500 a year for premium coverage on a new 1000cc Supersport.
Now in my early 50’s, I’ve got premium coverage on a new 2026 R9, 2006 R1LE, and a 2005 CBR1000RR Repsol for just under $800 a year. The 2006 R1LE is listed as stated value ($18,500), and the R9 and Repsol are listed as cash value at time of loss.

There is truth to the zip codes changing prices. My mailing address and zip code, are both different from the actual town I live in. My insurance agent changes the zip code in my address, to match the town I live in to get an accurate price. It’s usually about a $50.00 annual difference in price.

full coverage I know means liability, collision & comprehensive, but without limits to compare, many folks have minimum liability, and think their covered

I have an umbrella on my homeowners, that requires minimum liability of 250/500k/250k on the primary insurance
