dropped bike

Hey everyone,

My dad just dropped my bike on its left side. Apparently when he was moving it he thought the kick-stand was still down and it wasn't. So far all I can evaluate for damage is the shifter is bent far to the right now and there is a weird clacking noise that is happening when I move the bike. Bah time to do some investigating of the troubling noise. So anyone else have someone drop there bike.

my father dropped my ZX-12R before i ever even saw the bike. i bought it online while deployed over seas. after it was delivered, pops just had to have a test ride. it fell of the side stand in the drive way while he was putting on his gear. the stator cover broke and the bike dumped out it's oil but other than that just minor scrathes. he replaced the side case did an oil change and took his test ride 2 weeks later.

i just returned the favor 2 months ago by throwing his buell down the road.

When I had my first bike (Ninja 500) I let a buddy ride it up/down my driveway. He was Mr. "It can't be that hard right" less than a minute later he and the bike were on their side. Sigh.

Now I only let people ride who have their motorcycle license and have been riding a few years.

Back in the day I had a Duc 750ss (my pride and joy at the time, I used to take qtips to this bike when I cleaned it) and I broke it's throttle cable on a ride. I limped it to my mothers house and left it in her garage while I road bitch on a friends bike to go get my truck.

I return to find my bike right where I left it only now the clutch lever is broken, shift lever is bent, fairing is scratched and blinker is busted.

Worst part is neither my mother nor my mothers asshole boyfriend knew anything about it. To this day i have no idea who knocked it over. (I am pretty sure it was the boyfriend)

Oh no he has a harley so he enjoys riding as well. It was in the parking lot of a garage that I am getting them to put my rear tire on and an inspection. Hopefully it isnt to busted or i will have to retaliate

My buddy's first bike was a 650 Savage. He and his dad learn to ride together at my MSF class together. My buddy did great! His dad did ok. My buddy gave dad permission to practice on his bike whenever he wanted. Dad came over and road it 2-3 times while son was away. Son came home and found bike parked where it belonged, handlebars bent. Dad hadn't said anything about dropping it(too embarrassed). He didn't realize he had bent the bars ?

Neither of my bikes have been dropped (well the 636 is in a new home and I haven't heard from it since...), however I dropped my dads bike when I was about 6. I was playing on it in the garage (which I was forbidden to do) and decided it would be a good idea to put the kickstand up. It got to about the kickstand lean before I couldn't hold it anymore and it went down pinching my pinky in the clutch.

That was not a good day.

It happened to me a couple of weeks ago with my Busa. Pulled in a parking lot to make a cell call, It was hot out and I just wanted to get my leather off. Rushed it ang it fell over. Only a little scratches on the fairing. I dont care about having a pretty bike, i just ride them now. Battlescars are alright with me...

I let someone testride my ex500 when I was selling it. She was checking out the bike and we were talking and turns out we have a mutual friend (knarlydog) so I said "what the hell, take it for a ride". We pulled up to a stop sign that was on a hill and slightly off camber and she just fell over sideways. Broken brake lever, bent shifter, I think the directional was busted. When we got back to my house I went on bikebandit and ordered all new parts and she paid for them. She wound up buying the bike a few weeks later, no harm, no foul. But I will NEVER let anyone test ride a bike again!!!!!!!

A friend of mine dropped my ZX6R a few weeks after I got it. We took the MSF course together but I was the only one to get a bike... he bugged me & bugged me & bugged me about riding it from my work back to the apartment... in Boston. Finally I gave in & he dropped it pulling into our driveway. The thing was mint before that happened...

Well, my dad dropped my dirtbike in the garage while moving it... no harm no foul.

I dropped my kx250 off my tailgate/onto me in a monsoon a few weeks ago leaving a track. Dirt under my ramp and stand turned into mud instantly as I was loading and bam...bloody knee and bike on its side. I have not dropped a streetbike yet KNOCK ON WOOD. I'd probably freak out like an idiot and swear to myself for 8 minutes.

I just dropped my Katana in the driveway last week. That'll learn me to put it on out front walk, where it is much more stable. It fell on teh same side the previous owner dropped it on, so scratches are not even noticeable. I just had to replace a clutch lever and front signal. Pretty cheap lesson.

When my bike was less than a week old, some chick decided it would be fun to hop on it and make zoom-zoom noises. I was too busy staring at her ass to stop the inevitable fiasco when she leaned to the right and the bike toppled over. Luckily her leg took the brunt of the damage and there was only minor scuffing on the plastic. You'd think I would have learned an important lesson. Not true.

I went to grab lunch at the 4/28 track day and came back to find kitty liter all over my area. Then Doc comes over to tell me he just heard a crash, and my bike was on the ground. Some scuffs and rotated clipons, no big deal. Exactly why I have this beast.

No one to blame but the guy who put it on the stand (me).
