Barn find - or - my "new" bike

I've been looking for a GS for a while. My father has a couple 1100gs' and my wife loves riding pillion on them. This one finally fell in my lap:

I've known the current owner since I was a kid and he keeps his toys right. He's an older local dairy farmer who bought this used from the owner of a local dealer thinking he'd ride it. Same old story, no time, etc. It has a whopping 8,400 miles and it comes with the saddlebags, tail bag and a tank bag. The ABS needs some love but otherwise the bike looks and rides perfect. I'll post up some more pics when I pick it up, probably tomorrow.

Awesome, John, congrats! We'll have to get out for an ADV ride or two this summer.

The GS is not supposed to look that shiny and clean.

    (Nice acquisition.)

I'm definitely looking forward to travelling the paths less travelled now that I have a more appropriate steed.

Here's a couple more pics. I couldn't resist taking it for a short ride yesterday, despite the 28 degree temps. Now I'm really looking forward to spring!

You mentioned abs love? If the abs lights are flashing apart form each other it could be a battery voltage issue, looks like you don't have servo abs....

I (think I) have said it before; that's one helluva sweet toy-box you have there.

That BMW is going back to it's origional owner. You wouldn't believe the hours that its taken to clean it up. Never, ever buy a vehicle that's been submerged. Ever. There was silt everywhere. I pulled more than a tablespoon of silt out of each of the taillights alone. I had it running fine last fall and then tried starting it a few weeks ago and nothing worked. I've had to go back through it again now that everything has (hopefully) finished drying/corroding. I'll give it back to its owner but I wouldn't sell it to anyone.

I won't say. It was sold to me by a friend and he cut me a great deal. Less than similar bikes with lots more miles and those bikes were out west.

Nice Bike, I like the mandarin yellow.
I had a 98 1100, when the ABS was goofing up I would toss the battery on a trickle charge. Once the battery is full it took care of it..
ADV rider has a great section on GSs and tons of info...
    I am on my second, 2005 120GS..
    Great find.
