XJ 700 question

anyone know if a carb from an 86 Yamaha Maxim 'X' XJ700 will fit on an 85 Maxim XJ700 without the 'X'??????

there is one on Ebay for 75 bucks and this model is discontinued so parts may be a real bitch to get. if this X model carb will fit then I am gonna buy it.....

the X is for XTREEEEME... the carbs on the X are so xtreme that carbs from any other bike just won't work.

kidding, they probably would but i have no idea... but i'm bored so i'll search the net & see if i can find any carb specs

just found this pdf file showing part numbers for Float bowl o-rings & gaskets... the part numbers for the XJ700n & XJ700XS carbs are different but that doesnt' mean for sure it won't work

more negative news for ya.... from this website it seems that the 85 xj700n uses HITACHI & the '86 Xj700xs uses MIKUNI

The X model is a liquid cooled motor with semi-downdraft carbs. They won't interchange.
