Have a question for you guys. Stephan used to have a brand new ZX-9, barely rode the thing over the 2 years he owned it. THen when he heard the new ZX-10 was coming out, he thought "I gotta have it" and sold the ZX-9 (to someone on this board) to get his 2005 ZX-10. Beautiful machine. Which just sits there, in the garage, since he bought it when it came out of the showroom floor. Each time I ask him to go for a ride, it just seems like he's finding hundreds of excuses not to ride. This season only, I think he went on 2 rides with me and a bunch of other guys, and took maybe only once to work. Ridiculous! I tried many times to push him out the door on a beautiful day, and tell him "go ride your bike, it will do you some good!" and each time he answers me "I don't like riding alone" or "I don't feel like it right now". Just seems to me he doesn't get excited about going on rides....so why does he even own a bike? Now he's been talking about getting a Goldwing in a near future...(that will be boring fun...)
Does any of you "react" the same way about riding? Like the excitement of getting out there on the roads is not there, but you still have to own a gorgeous bike and just let it rot in your garage? What gives? To me it's like over $10 000 is just getting wasted for no reason.![]()

I'm not a big fan of riding alone either.. But i use my bike every chance i get, back and forth to work, run erands...ect.. If my bike sits for more then a day in nice weather i feel like it is a waste..
I ride alone most of the time. Actaully, the only time I get into trouble wih the law is when I'm riding with a group. Usually someone else in the group gets the attention of the police and they pull the whole group over.
I try not to ride with more that 1 or 2 other folks. When there is more than that, I find myself pulling out my license and registration more.![]()
TL1000R --- For those who like to drive high speed tanks
My first riding season I rode alone since I didn't know anyone. Now that I've been riding for a bit, I'm always going riding with people, and I've actually got more obsessed about riding.
Some days its nice to ride by yourself so you don't have to worry about anyone else. Sometimes its fun to ride with a small group a people. I try to mix it up.
Can't help you with your problem, I always want to ride, even in the winter I get a BAD itch to go out. But i fyou are looking for someone to put some miles on the tires so they dont get a flat spot or just need to get some fresh gas ran thru it I am always available to spend some time on someone elses bike.
V, i'll go ride his bike for him on your next group ride.![]()
"fuckit!"
To me.. Owning a sweet bike (like his ZX-10R for sure) and riding it twice a year is like, I dunno, marrying a "perfect 10" model and banging her twice a year.Originally posted by MissTwisties

Yeah right? You'd rather marry a more ordinary looking girl and bang the hell out of her every day!
I dunno....I don't get it, why does he want to have a nice bike and then he has no desire to ride. If I could, I would ride his bike, but I've tried to take it around town a few times and it's too dangerous for me since I can barely touch the ground when sitting on it.![]()

OK. You're fairly new on here, and you bring this up, too. So please someone tell me...what is bad about the word "Man God"? I started calling my husband Man God after I heard it a few times from other women, I thought it was an abbreviation from the word husband. But it seems a lot of guys have a problem with it...so educate me here...does it means something else? LOLOriginally posted by wylee

Open your eyes
They say that one of the hallmarks of genius is to recognize that your reactions are the same as other peoples.
If his riding dropped off after he got the new bike....Its the new bike. Privately maybe other things are holding him down but
The original zx10 was supposed to be the most viscous unpredictable super scoot since the bad old days of the early 80's.
Wheel spin, unprepared wheelies, heart stopping acceleration.
I guarantee that it evoked at least 1 panic attack. I get at least one a year and know that they go away. Now he has a 10K toy that he does not feel happy with.
During the 1st energy crisis a very wise friend of mine bought a Diesel power VW Rabbit. He drove it for like 3 days and brought it back and took a 25% beating. He hated it and wasn't going to ruin his life by driving something he hated for 4 years.
Let him have a beer or a wine and TELL him. I want my man to be happy, why don't you buy a different bike that you think you will like more then the 10.
Followed by "I am so lucky to have you"

I love going skiing with my wife because she is just about as good a skier as I am. I rarely have to wait more then a few
seconds for her to catch up. We can really do the activity together. If she took up Sportbiking as a newbie and I had to drone along at a newbie pace and worry about her safety along with my own I bet that would get old real fast. Its almost to late this year but you should camp on ODFU and suggest he go out and run with the big dogs by himself. Much as I would hate to confirm your fears but maybe he's out cause your in

richw....you got it all wrong here. LOL He actually likes his ZX10 very much so. BUT, he seems to be tired of the "sport riding" aspect of riding motorcycles. He almost got me nervous when we went to Lake Ontario, scouting at his co-worker's HARLEY. ughhhhh He's talking all the time about getting a more "mellow" bike, such as a Goldwing.![]()
As far as "he's out because I'm in", that's also far from the truth. When I first began to ride, he didn't like it because I was too slow. After I did a trackday at Loudon, we went back riding togueter, and ripping twisties togueter. I'll always remember the happiness I felt when we stop for a break, he took off his helmet and looked at me with a huge smile on his face saying "Girl, that was fun!!" I did ask him if it was because of me that he didn't enjoy riding much anymore, and he told me that it had nothing to do with me, that he was actually having fun and enjoyed riding togueter. He in fact don't want to go ride with other guys when I suggested it to him. He also told me he don't enjoy riding at excessive speeds, he likes to ride at a good pace, but nothing off the walls. He did go with ODFU once a few years back after Hooters and when he came back home he said "never again" ...LOL
He did say that one reason he don't enjoy it as much anymore is that each time we are heading out, it's costing him $$ because of the sitter and whatnot, and that pisses him off.You know...everyone with kids and no family or friends around to watch the kids can relate, but still....oh well.

What a tough deal, I'd ride all day every day if I could. But work and weather, and football, lacrosse, baseball, soccer, mowing the lawn, broken bones, this new window I'm putting in, project management courses and the like all seem to get in the way. I've only put 1,100 miles on my street bike and only been to 3 track days this year. That's my lowest total by a lot since 99 when we has infants. Oh well. And the funny thing is one of my goals was to make this a MC year.
There's always retirement.
