1). State troopers are everywhere this weekend!!! I got nabbed at 5:15am this morning on my way to work on rte 1. Cop said I was going 70 in a 55. Gave me a warning and said they have some "Click-it-or-ticket" campaign this weekend and warned me they are everywwhere.
2). The Ducati 1098 sucks in traffic, any tempature over 85 degrees and any speed below 35 MPH.
3). Is anyone ridding this evening around 5-6ish. I'm leaving work at Wellesley Hills and wondering if there's going to be anything happening. Would like a short cruise somewhere. Hit me back if anyone's going within a 20 minute radius from there.
Be safe all...................
Well, The state has to pay for the Big-Dig one way or another.
I have an ST2 that is really nice in traffic at any temp. Would consider an even swap if that would help you out...2). The Ducati 1098 sucks in traffic, any tempature over 85 degrees and any speed below 35 MPH

Haaaa...nice one. no, I'm ok. I'll suffer in traffic. The performance on the twisties more than makes up for it
The SS800 I ride on sucks in the heat too. The temp guage was near 300 Deg today in DT Boston. Luckily I was near my destination. Oh BTW traffic was nasty today.
300 degrees????? Are u serious? mine hit 220 on rte 9 going into Wellesley Hills on my way back from lunch, that's about as high as it gets though. The underseat exhaust burns your ass on the 1098 bigtime. On days like today it's not even enjoyable to ride when your stuck in traffic( I knew I'd hit traffic at some point today), but when I walked out my door this morning at 5am the weather was just too nice and the thought of a sweet 35 minute ride to/before work was just too tempting.
I feel for you, really, honestly I do, riding that 1098 must be terrible, just plain aweful. It's a damn shame you have to own one.
oh yeh... and most liter twin sportbikes suck at less than 35mph (you're sitting on the rear cylinder)
hope you had a good ride, sans traffic![]()

Not complaining really. I've been riding yamaha and suzuki (with one honda thrown in the mix) for the last 17 years and this is my first twin. It's a whole different animal. Under 35 mph and the 1098 shakes, rattles and is just plain uncomfortable. It was nothing like my r-1, FZR, YZF or gixxer. You could ride them at 10mph in traffic and it was smooth as glass...like water skiing on a lake at 6am....(Though the gixxer was more rough around the edges than the Yamaha's) Guess I'm just not used to the idiosyncrasies of Ducatis.
And whaddaya mean ducs are air cooled?? What the hells that little black funny looking thing in back of my front wheel for ???? Someone better tell the Duc factory their spitting out radiators on the 1098....
Or did you mean "His DUC" is air cooled?
Umm Oil cooler?

Ok, not to keep rehashing this but you do realize the 1098 is "Liquid cooled" right? With like anti-freeze an all that? maybe this is just a dead discussion........
You aren't going to get much sympathy on here...as that bike is the envy of most.![]()
