has anyone tried this product before?
Vehicle Systems: Tailgate Latchbar
a tie down to keep the tailgate up or is it down and the bike just strapped in?
good deal, how many tie downs in total do you use?
awesome, I already have 4 I guess I'll have to just put it in and see where the straps best fit. I just got an '02 Dakota quad cab so it only has the 5'3'' bed, but the tailgate adds another 18" when down.
do you think i should get on of those cage looking bed extenders? my other option would be a trailer, but i don't want to deal with another registration.
Just leave the bed done, strap it in good
Plenty of people do it.
The bed extenders might not work, Dan (Mongoose) got one for his ridgeline, but the tire sticks just far enough over the back that he cant even use the extender.
I'd say my bed is about the same size as a ridgeline. Thanks for the advice, see you around.
Why bother? just strap bike down good and leave the gate down
you could just leave the gate down, your bikes not going anywhere. put all your other junk in the cab.

I wouldnt spend the money on 'em. You have a quad-cab, just put your gear in the truck
