One of the reasons why I never really try to wheelie...because I know that would be me if I tried.

not sure what would be worse, the trashed bike or the embarassment from the lack of skill

Re: epic fail - Motorcycle Wheelie Crash Fail

Also, everyone ask yourself this question.

Had the vehicle in the opposing lane been further ahead...... where do you think that out of control motorcycle would of landed ? Right thru the windshield ? What if the passenger was a child above 12 ?

I'm not saying I'm perfect. I did that ignorant, juvenile bullshit when I was 17 but its so wrong to be doing things like that in public.

I would of not stopped had I seen a wheelie victim toss around on the pavement.

Had the motorcyclist hit a patch of sand... then crash ? I'll be the first one to take the shirt off my back to wrap up his wounds. But for that type of behavior ? My adrenaline/stress hormone would of been raging and I would of most defiantly started shit with him.

Then again, nobody here actually knows whether the guy did it on purpose or not. He could have just punched it coming out of the turn, the front lifted a little faster than he realized and the result was a wiskey-throttle loop.

I dunno, he doesn't exactly seem like the typical squidly type wearing all that gear. Then again, who knows.

Wheelies are meant for your back yard on a dirt bike or a highway with no one around. I don't understand why someone would so foolishly risk their life and the lives of the other people on an occupied road.

I would make a smart assed comment, but I feel it would take away some of the good karma I've been trying to stockpile. That was a silly stunt.

Oh by all means logically defend your position. You're 10 years older than me so perhaps you've attained some wisdom I've yet to be blessed with ?

Apparently you're youthful AND defensive. He was making a joke about a retard that used to be a member here who said he wouldn't help any of us if we crashed on the side of the road.

Karma man, karma. If you want good things to happen to you, you gotta be willing to do good things, like looking beyond your own emotions and dealing with the situation at hand. I understand how you feel, but ultimately it is another person that needs help, and as a motorcycle rider you may be able to assess the ensuing situation better (blocking other traffic, knowing not to take the helmet off, etc) than those around you.

Jackie hit the comedic part and Nobodyspecific hit the underlying meaning behind it.

If you really want the immature defensive post from me; here ya go:

Those who know me know I can be a cold hearted cynical bastard. If you truly meant that you'd leave that guy there, and aren't just chest thumping because you think it's what others want to hear, you're an asshole. The kind the world is better off without.

If you want a more thought provoking answer that stems from "wisdom" since I'm old, here ya go:

It's interesting that you never said anything about the double yellow passing but are willing to draw the line in the sand over a wheelie. I'm assuming you've done a double yellow pass before. Most motorists lately seem to get pissed when you pass them legally, never mind on a double yellow. To the average motorist, passing like that is reckless and crazy. Furthering your example, what if you were out riding and passed some slow moving car and in the next corner hit a patch of sand, low sided and bounced off a few curbs or something? Now the guy in the car is thinking, "that was stupid, keep it on the track dumbass" and just drives by leaving you just lying there. Would it change anything if that was your first time doing that or your 1000th?

Look at it another way. You ride 100% legal all the time and are the poster child for responsible motorcycle riders everywhere. You're riding along and just have one of those days, whether it's a patch of sand, a deer or someone who pulls out in front of you. The people who are around look at you and think "I hate motorcycles. They're stupid, dangerous, and people are fools for riding them. He got what he deserved" and walk away leaving you to fend for yourself. That would kinda suck, no? Is that much different from you judging someone who does a wheelie and wrecks?

People do stupid things all the time. The problem is "stupid" is ridiculously subjective. If EMS didn't respond to a scene because it was caused by stupidity you'd never hear a siren. Talk to people who scrape people off the street for a living. You'll find a lot who are very jaded, cynical and judgemental. Beneath all that though, you'll find people who, when push comes to shove, are extremely compassionate and put their own emotions in the background and delive the same standard of care regardless of the circumstances. They also have some pretty cool stories.

If you actually read all this, keep in mind I'm not defending the guy in the video. He did something that could easily have ended a lot worse for a bunch of innocent people. That doesn't mean he should be executed for it though. Also keep in mind I can count on one hand the number of times I've lifted a wheel, it's not my type of riding.
