brings back memories, a close friend had a Bultaco 250 Sherpa, another had a HD Baja 100

played a couple weeks on the Bultaco, in the gravel pits behind my apartment

My Dad bought a Yankee brand new, had it in our basement while I was a kid and then sold it. I remember him showing off to the buyer how it can tackle a stone wall easily.

Geeze, that bent swinger with direct mount dual shocks!? I have no idea what that is.

OEM was a red steel swingarm. I think this Fox swingarm with popular at the time Fox Air Shox as to compete with the RM and YZ rear suspension but the bike does look a bit unbalanced. Maybe there was a fork fix to level the bike off or stock it didn’t turn well. OEM pic shows bike more level sitting.

Those fox air shocks were all the rage at Southwick around 1978-9…all the dudes pouring money into mx had em, despite the fact that from a fluid dynamics/thermodynamics standpoint they didn’t work well late in motos because of the air heating up. I recall being at the National around then (approximately! LOL) and seeing a bike with “no” (visible) rear shock for the first time. Mono shock YZs were one thing, but the really freaky looking ones that looked like they had no support in the rear at all looked amazing. Pretty sure the first one I saw like that was a Kawasaki uni shock, on a factory mx bike.

That's a pretty rare bird right there. They only put the upsidedown forks on the 200 for a year I believe. THey were on the 220, which is not as good a motor IMO. and... that seat!

Fetched $5,200. Was looking at auction results. The guess if more than one person wants something. Cool bike from a cool time but you also had some ground breaking RM and YZ back then.

$2750. Probably a lot of fun for that price.
