I did some riding in NM on vacation in Sept. and decided to get some in while in San Fran last week. I rented a Tiger 1050 from Dubbelju (pronounced W, I thought French first). If you need a bike out there these guys are awesome. Great friendly service and lots of recommendations for roads and place to eat. Plus a good selection of Suzukis, BMWs, Ducatis, Triumphs and Harleys. I took Bobby's advice and took the PCH to Santa Cruz and then 9 up to Big Basin for some toe scraping through the red woods and up 35 for some high speed sweepers and Alice's Restaurant. I was going a lot slower than I thought on the PCH because of the incredible views. One thing I loved was cages moving right over as soon as a bike came up on them. I think that may have been the best ride I've ever done due to the company, food, views, roads, weather and the bike. I think I had a shit eating grin the whole time. Got some pics but not many. I did get the Santa Cruz light house for Dave. If you're out there, do this.
Here's the route.

Nice.
I did the ocean view part of the same trip in a rental car on a surf trip a few years back, saw Mavericks at half moon bay and stayed in a little motel walking distance from steamer lane (the surf break in the pic you have of the lighthouse) as well as a little legal 2 table poker room where a convenience store had once been in Santa Cruz.
I gotta start doing the rental bike thing...
Hard to keep the eyes on the road with those views!!
Seeing all the surfers out there made me want to learn again. Half Moon was really nice. We stopped there for a few minutes as well. Definitely do a bike, it's completely worth it.

Ummmm... it was awesome. Handled 2 up like a champ, I could barely tell she was back there. Plenty of power to wheelie. Very stable mid turn, enough to take some rubber off my boot. We were both very comfortable for the whole ride. It also ate up chop in the road great. I'm now seriously thinking about one of those and a Bonnie instead of just the Speed.
