Hello,
My Shoei RF1000 XL fits me perfectly but it's probably 10 years old so it's beyond time for a replacement. I'd love to get an RF1200 but I really don't want to pay that much for a helmet right now. I've seen the Bell RS-1 recommended here so I was wondering if any former RF1000 owners could comment on how well the Bell fits compared to the Shoei. I'm open to other suggestions too.
TIA,
Tom
Revzilla solid rf1200 is 437
If you get a molded poly-carbonate one then life like 4 years
Yes its a FU for 1 1/2 pounds of plastic

If you don't care that much about the graphics...that's the same price as an RS-1. RS-1 is more narrow than RF-1000/1200 which is more intermediate oval. The GT-air is more narrow. AGV has some great helmets at a cost that won'r break the bank and size that is similar to RF-1000 as well.
Every couple of years I say Im not gonna spend for a Shoei. I go try them all on and always end up with another Shoei. Why? They fit me better than anything else....
Ive worn a few others, and end up saying everytime, 'Shoulda got another Shoei'
If shoe fits ....
The RF line has fit me perfectly over several generations. This year will be a new RF-1200 for me.

Thanks guys. dankatz, the RS-1 can be had for under $200 now on closeout. Unfortunately the RF-1200 is more than twice that and they never seem to drop in price. Good to know that the Bell is narrower than the RF. I might order the Bell so I can wear it around the house, decide I don't like it, pay to ship it back then buy the Shoei anyway![]()
The Bell RS-1 arrived yesterday. It seems like a really nice lid and it fit me very well, but I found it was a little too noisey for me both with or without ear plugs so I'm going to send it back. I think the noise is due to the chin bar being a lot farther from my jaw than the one on my RF1000. Apparently the longer oval design of the Bell isn't quite right for my melon. It's too bad because if not for the noise I would have been very happy with the Bell. RF1200 here I come...
I went helmet shopping last week and found that the RF series from Shoei still fits me better than anything else. Now I have a RF1200 in Anthracite Metallic. I would have bought last year but I was waiting for the Snell M2015 models to hit the shelf.
