    Exhaust Baffles

After finishing my exhaust last week, Ive ridden the bike and realized its ungodly loud. Though I passed a bunch of cops, getting not even a second look from most and even a thumbs up from a few, I decided it was a good idea to quiet it down a bit. Looking for any suggestions/ideas/sarcastic remarks on how to quiet down what I have.

    Re: Exhaust Baffles

cut in half to make two. (Or wait till I find a second one)
    cut lengthwise.
make it skinnier to fit in 2.25 pipe instead of 2.5.
test fit & mod as necessary.
tack weld inside midpipe upstream of the muffler.
    ???
    profit

If we can't find a second one & we cut this one in half then they won't be exactly alike since it's not symmetrical, but we can fix that... or it should do the trick as is.

Make 2 sheet metal end caps with the hole about the same size as the header pipe or slightly smaller.

I am sure it would be easy to make them attach with a removeable screw and tab

some thing like this. Insert it so you can remove it with a set screw. I am sure you and Tim can come up with somthing. Wrapping Fiberglass around the silencer helps too.

Ya can't re-pack what was never packed in the first place and it's not like we can open it up easily as it's all welded shut.

We could possibly pack the muffler, but I'm not sure it would quiet it down that much. It was completely open from the factory.

Tim, I can get a second one of those baffles like I posted above for the cost of shipping... unfortunately it's made to fit inside a 2.5" diameter pipe so we'd have to narrow it down to get inside the mid-pipe.

Shouldn't be too hard though, right? The only trick would be getting the mid-pipe back to its original length so it still mounts up to the bike okay.

I'm gonna drop off the one that i have with Nick tomorrow.

    Re: Exhaust Baffles

Should be easy enough to chop, and reweld... the question is will it actually make it significantly quieter.
