who likes what brand better? as far as performance sound and weight goes

i ask because im putting one on my fizza and the options i have are

1. akropovic ( #1 choice)

2. yoshimura

3. holeshot (great sound, can buy it with a jet kit specifically for my bike)

4. tiforce

5. arata

6. hindle

7. muzzy

Do you need to have a full system? I think a slipon will be more cost effective and beneficial to your needs. Over all the full system might be a little lighter but the benefits are not really felt unless youre racing the thing at the top of the rpm range.

Im using Sato slipons on my bike. SatoRacing For the RC51 its one of the better pipes with a proper map on the power commander. On the Vtwin the Satos put out a booming noise. Ill be happy to demonstrate for you if you want to come here. They also are a ton lighter then the stock cans. Both of the Satos combined weight like a pound more then just one side of the stock.

Akropovics make very nice stuff as well. Ive seen a few of their systems on bikes and I was pretty impressed with the quality. I havent really heard good things about Hindles. Im not saying they arent good but I havent heard that they are great. My friend put a muzzy pipe on his zx-14 this summer. Its way better sounding then the stock stuff but it pretty much sounds like any other I4 bike to me.

I still think a slipon would be the way to go on your bike unless its not possible.

I still think its a waste of money just to say you have a full system when a slipon will probably yield better results for you. The money you save you can put tword other goodies for the bike.

I will most likely go with a full system, the $$ difference between a carbon full and a bolt on is only about $250 that way i don't have to make any hanger mods for my tail risers.. guess you really have to wiegh the price difference.. James I also have a V-twin as you know (TLR) and i'm not looking for performance, as much as looks and sound, i remember your bike was really annoying with the sound.. I Like..

Yep mine is pretty loud. However the pipes on my bike werent bought for the sound it was just a bonus. They make the best power for the RC for a slip on system. Someone said they are around 107db which is not good for me if it turns out to be true. Loudon has a 99db limit so I might have to put the stock stuff back on

Well to be honest I probably would have been happy with the hawk. However the price I paid for the RC couldnt have been passed up. It was dirt cheap and had pretty much all the important mods done to it. One of those few times I was in the right place at the right time.

I have recieved a lot of compliments on the sound and the tone.

Are you running the low mounts? Its what it looks like from your photo you have on myspace. I have the banzai mount. For those that arent familiar with the rc systems from sato the low mounts pretty much hang where the stock pipes do whereas the banzai mounts come up high and tight to the tail. Thats the noticable difference. The other difference which isnt as noticable is the Banzai pipes come with shorter cans so there less noise baffing in them.

The cans themselves are tight to the midpipes. I tried seperating them last winter with no luck.
