Is it worth spending the extra money on a BMC, K&N, etc.. air filter vs. a stock oem one? Are the gains enough to make a difference?

This is a debate that you need dyno results to resolve.
You have a stock pipe? If so then I'd stick with OEM filter.
I like being able to clean and re-oil my K&N so that
part is better. Does it flow more air? the jury is still out on that.
Some say yes, others no.

Without a power commander etc more harm than good

I have one, but I dont know if it made any difference. I added a power commander and the filter at the same time then I had it tuned withough having any baseline to compare it too.
You suck at life. Why don't you quit?
My dad told me I could be anything I wanted when I grew up. So I became an Asshole.
My airbox is home to a high flow unifilter.
My carbs. have been adjusted and a good hindle pipe.
Plugs have been the same color every time I check.
I agree, we may be splitting hairs.
