Question?
I've heard these helmets run small compared to other helmets, can anyone confirm this?
I know different peoples melons fit diferent helmets better, but generally...if I wear a Large Shoei does that mean I should buy a XL Suomy?
I hear its a great helmet and found a good deal on one.
Thanks!
Got one - it is slightly tighter than I was used to but seems to have expanded. They are fairly noisy wind wise, but very light and supposed to be good structurally.
I like mine alot - got the double grey. I would recommend some ear buds with some musice to kill the wind though - one ther bright side it is super efficient for air flow and does not fog.
I loved mine, it is tight, I also wear a arai profile which is just a tid bit looser at first. That's the closest fir I could get to a suomy comparison wise.
Loved mine when I had it, very light. Alittle tight at first but packed out nicely.

It's tight at first but molds to your noggin nicely. I love mine but its not the extreme version just standard Spec-1R.
I tried on a Arai Corsair and its the same sizing but fit perfectly from the get go.
what Shoei do you currently have? I've been wearing a Spec 1r/extreme for many years now. I've tried on an RF1000 and I think an X11 but I'm not positive on that one, didn't fit anywhere near the same.

Ive got an RF1000 and a Spec 1R extreme. The Suomy did break in and got looser. Great lid and they can be had cheap too..
The fit is similar to the Shoei, VERY much UNLIKE any Arai Ive tried..and Ive tried them all...
Oh and I'll let you try it out if ya want....only driven to church on sundays and hardly ever got sweaty...but you prolly like me sweaty, dont ya?
Take your time, try on helmets without the check pads, then go from there... I used a medium helmet (which was almost impossible to wear with the M check pads), and ordered it with slightly thinner cheek pads (L). Our sponsor is a distributor out west, but with his help, and trying some on in the store, I was able to get it right the first time. They will put the pads you want in a new helmet to save from buying additional cheek pads. If you want their contact # I'll look it up.
Edit: I almost bought a L since I wear medium in other helmets, but with cheek pads out, the large just didn't fit the dome correctly.
I Love mine, but it's loud...just use ear plugs. These fit like the older Arai Quantum 2, and much like the Corsair V. I tried on both the RF 1000 and X11 at the time and neither fit like the Suomy. Could be my pinheaded melon though.
Had a Spec 1r extreme Cathedral great helmet, very light. I'm not a fan of helmets that require the side plates to be removed for a shield change, but other than that it was a great helmet.
I think there graphics and paint work is excellent and the detail is great. I wore a medium with small cheek pads.
In a older Arai quantum F I wore a small, Shoei Rf1000 a small and Scorpion EXO 400 a medium.

i wear small in arai, shoei, and kbc but a broken in medium suomy fit me pretty well
My Nolan is a medium and fit right out of the box. My Suomy is a large and I needed to swap out the cheek pads for XL's. However, after that little bit of customization the Suomy L fits my typically M head perfectly. Have to add a thumbs up to Suomy customer service who swapped out the cheek pads quickly and at no charge.
