Where do you guys go to get your leathers cleaned?
I've got an old set of leathers that haven't gotten any use in the last couple of years, but they got moldyand I wanna get em cleaned up for a fellow NESR member.
I searched the net & called around, but everyone was saying it was gonna take a month to ship em out & have em cleaned.
Please try to keep this on topic.

Mine aren't moldy that I can tell, but after wearing then for the day, my lower legs itch like hell. I think I need to get mine cleaned too, but I'm up in the sticks of VT

Pete if you don't want to or don't have the time/money to do the professional route, you can always just go to town on it with lexol.
Is the liner removable? If so you can lexol the inside too, and clean the liner seperately.
Otherwise just febreze the shit out of the inside and lexol the outisde.

liner's not removable.
I sprayed the hell outta it with Scrubbing Bubbles (miiiild bleach solution) and wiped it all down, but there's still some grossness inside.

Get those leathers in the sun Oreo, that'll kill a good amount of mold/mildew, and make them nicer for whomever gets to clean them. Of course, for this advise to work, we have to have sunny weather...

As mentioned before, get that thing outside on a nice dry and breezy day. Position a fan so that it keeps fresh air circulating through it. That should knock out most of the stink.
Give a local dry-cleaner a call, they may know who to talk to.
I would like to know the answer to this puzzle as well...![]()
not sure if it will help, but when i picked up my jacket at vanson leathers in fall river ma, i saw a suit that they had half cleaned, and it looked amazing, well, the clean half.
from the vanson site:
"Note: get your garments in as early as possible as this procedure can take many weeks to complete dependant on the complexity of your graphics design and the number of garments in the system.
For an extreme situation you may want to consider VANSON's wash and re-dye service. First, we wash the garment with lanolin and the same oils used in the tanning process to restore all of the lubricants that have been leeched out through aging and exposure to the elements. Then we strip off the top coat and touch up any areas that are abraded or discolored, using the original dyes, and re-seal the leather for a finish much like a new leather jacket. This is a completely unique service offered only by VANSON. It can fully rejuvenate tired, worn leather, extending and enhancing the value of your original purchase."
hope that helps ! - bryan
Only problem with the above suggestion is that Vanson will only touch their suits.
I just wanna get the mold & funk out for Seth![]()

I would agree with the inside out idea. Mold, like other spores, love moisture. A little Lysol or bleach (lysol smells better) a little mind you, and some dry time should take care of it. Maybe some scrubbing with a light nylon brush and they should be good to go. Repeat if necessary. Dry em' out regardless.

I'd start calling various grandmothers, they know how to clean everything!

For short notice situations such as this, couldn't an upholstering shop offer cleaning advice? A place like American Seat Cover or something similar.
Maybe even call a (dare I say it) Harley shop.......they love the leather and could very well point one in the right direction.
