i dont understand why this bike hasn't been introduced in the US yet
Corey
i guess its produced by Honda in Europe and the dollar is so weak compared to the Euro that it would be to expensive

ahh, i guess that makes sense but i think the bike could sell for as much as a 1k does, and i cant imagine it costs them all that much more to make but i guess that probably wouldn't make the same % profit over here as in europe, plus fighters are bigger in Europe than the US i believe
Corey
kinda gross. i look at the radiator shrouds and keep saying "three snaps in a Z" in my head.
Is there any substantial difference between the FZ1 and th CB1000?

I do not like that rear wheel at all. Other than that it is sexy-ness. Maybe my 8-spoke VFR wheel will have a new purpose...

As discussed before, *most* US motorcycle buyers aren't interested if it's isn't a racer rep or dipped in chrome cruiser. Shame really...
Kawi is taking a big chance on the new Z1000, hoping it'll sell.
I have alot of love for "standards". I'll probably buy one as my next bike.
Pretty sweet lookin bike. Looks a little "front" heavy though. Don't like the white, but I really like the red one & the repsol edition.

The same thing could be said for lots of other Honda models. Like the Transalp for instance -- Suzuki's even shown that the mid-sized adventure-touring bike market is pretty decent, with the V-Strom 650 selling quite well, but Honda's just not interested.
Of course, part of their problem is that they think they belong in Ducati/BMW territory and price their bikes accordingly. Suzuki is smart enough to sell the V-Strom 650 fairly cheap; Honda would probably try to price the Transalp close to $10k, which would never fly.
One of the reasons the 599 didn't sell well here a few years ago, for example, is that it was overpriced. For around $1000 less, you could get a Triumph Speed Four, which was a more interesting bike with better suspension; and you could get an SV650 for nearly $2000 less.
It's not true that Americans don't buy anything but race replicas and chromed-out cruisers. It's just that when they do buy nakeds, they tend to buy Triumph, Ducati, or Aprilia.
