I don't care if they ride the biggest, loudest 3 wheeled Vespa on the planet.

People who ride are cool and I'll wave to everyone of them.

Any sportbike on this site is just as if not more uncomfortable than any stock Harley out there. That was the whole reason I got rid of my GSXR600 and switched to the Z1000 - my back hurt like hell after 45 min of riding.

I posted it not to pick on HD, but because the video was funny, especially the end about how they shafted Buell.

Good stuff, love the ending about Buell. The video is true though in most aspects though, the people buy them for the heritage and look, not the technology. They are wrong about people modifying them to be purposely uncomfortable, ever sat on a street or roadglide? Plus, plenty of other reasons to buy one, especially 2-up riding.

I don't hate brands, I hate people. Just as many, if not more, people on sportbikes I choose not to ride with than people with Harleys.

I also know a few guys that can handle themselves way better on a Harley than a lot of people on sportbikes, hint, don't run from a North Reading Motorcycle Cop.

Awesome! You know, my '02 Shadow just turned 9000 miles and it's been in the shop only once...for tires. I've changed the oil twice and coolant only last year.

They may think metric cruisers are for pussies, but I'm never walking! Hmmm. Half the price, better product....now does that make me a pussy, or smart?

My uncle had an 883 done up just like that, but flat-track style. He sold it a few years back. I did like it, asside from the lack of power.

Wow, a whole 9000 miles. That is truely a statement of reliability. Do you know how many of my customers ride their bikes 9000 mile or more in a year without any issues at all? How many Harley breakdowns are you actually familiar with, or...

are you just talking out of your ass?

An 02 model with 9000 miles at that. That's an average of just over 1000 miles per season. Someone needs to get out and ride more.

If I was to give a snap shot of what is occupying our service department, it would look something like this:

Set up of new bikes: 25%
    Accessories installation: 35%
    Scheduled maintenence: 20%
    Crash repair: 10%
    Warrenty/general repair: 10%

I waved to a guy on a Harley once. For all I know, it could have been Jay Leno. Kinda puts things into perspective, doesn't it?

the 2009 v-rod, has 122hp, and 84ft tq. and its heavy as hell. My Cbr954rr, 155hp, 75fttq, and is 369 pounds dry. (stock which mine is not). I covered the 122hp version by the time i hit 2nd. IT WAS OVER BAD. so hell give the brick 30-40 more hp. I may have to actually shift to 3rd.

Now the yamaha V-Max is a mean bad bitch and would eat ANY HD for lunch.
194 hp and 123 ft tq. I want to race one of those.

Yay, copying and pasting bike magazine specs is fun!

I love when people compare Harley big-twins to Japanese inline-4s...it makes for such interesting macho B.S.

I'm no Harley fan, but let's get real here. From a standstill, that V-twin motor is making about 90% of its torque before you can even spell ' HONDA.'

Re: Finally, an honest Harley Davidson commercial

I have encountered some HD riders that really know how to ride in the Smokies. You don't see them often but they are there.

A couple of years ago, I met this one HD rider that had AK20 cartridge forks with a Penske on a Softail. Several cocky sportbike riders ended up in the ditch trying to keep up with him, they were riding way over their heads.

It is a different bike for a different style of riding. Unfortunately they have more than their share of d-bag wannabe image conscious a-holes that ride them.

Same can be said at bike nights about sportbike riders, they are typically younger and have just as many issues trying to socialize with people out of their little clique. One look at their tires and their gear is usually enough to identify them.

I had the pleasure of riding with a guy like that on my way back from FL. Not sure of the model but it was white, and had speakers in the batwing fairing as well as some hard bags. A Road King maybe?

So scary to watch a bike like that actually carving the twisties but this guy could hang.
