FZ6 opinions ??

A friend is thinking of getting back into motorcycling and is very interested in the Yamaha FZ6. I won't go into all the reasons, but it think it's a good choice for him.
Does anyone out there own one or know someone who does? Any comments good or bad ?
He was thinking of buying new, but I'm thinking that he can probably pick up a used one next spring for a decent price...once spring fever hits the squids...

Funny, I've read a bunch of bad reviews of this bike. Almost all negative comments have been centered around the buzzy engine and the gutless low and midrange compared to other similar offering (the Honda 599, Triumph S4). Putting the YZF600R's engine rather than a slightly detuned R6's motor in the bike sounds like it would have been a better idea.
