I just got back from the Elliot in manchester, went to visit a friend, Dave Schroeder, who was in an accident this last wednesday. I don't know many of the details, but apparently he was on his way from londonderry to HP in nashua on his buell blast and low sided on a patch of sand. He slid on his side into a guardrail, breaking his right arm and bruising his back.
He's in the hospital now in stable condition, but doctors are concerned that one of his kidneys might not function again. Also, his fever remains high since the accident, which is a concern; the kidney and fever I believe are what are keeping him in the hospital this long, though he hopes to be home within a few more days. My father and I were talking to him about work and the accident and he was speaking well, a bit groggy from the pain medication but still very sharp all things considered. He is walking and eating with some pain in his back.
I've known Dave for about 10 years, he and his two brothers went to my church, I was friends with his brother Andy as well. Dave went to RPI for computer engineering, got a 4.0 there and has been working for HP since he graduated about 4 years ago. He's a great guy, active in the community and here at our church, I have lost touch with him a bit but I did remember hearing that he picked up a Buell Blast shortly after I bought my bike a year or so ago, always meant to hook up with him for a ride but never picked up the phone. Hopefully I'll get a chance to ride with him someday, though I didn't feel right asking if he had any plans for riding again, best to let injuries heal first.
I just wanted to post this here because NESR has been so supportive of the local motorcycle community. As far as I know Dave never knew about NESR or logged on here and I doubt any of you know him, but if anyone would be inclined to offer words of support to him and his family I'm sure they would be very much appreciated. I will give him the site address so he can log on and read this thread, or you can PM me for his home address.
Thank You All,
Darrell

Bummer Dave, hope you feel better. I crashed on Tuesday last week but wasn't injured.
Did ya know a Jose Carlo Cervantes III in RPI? He got his Masters there 5 years ago or so. I've worked with him since he started here at Lucent. He's a tall, soft spoken Phillipino guy. Good friend.
