I had my BMW in for its first service last week...the dealership (one of the main reasons I chose it) has a loaner program for the day. When we showed up the only bike left was a Triumph America. What a POS. It has fake carbs on it. Fake carbs. The bike is fuel injected. Fake carbs....just for decoration.
I told degsy how incredible it was and kept talking about it during lunch so he wanted to give it a shake and I got to ride his gixxer on the way back. Much betterer.
Did I mention the carbs were fake....the bike has newer more advanced technology but people want you to think it has older, less advanced technology....good trick!

I had the same thing happen!
Only when they said the only thing they had was a Triumph America, I said "no thanks, I'll call for a ride" (I live just a few miles away).
They were, to say the least...insulted.

It's a bike that' supposed to look classic, so that's the reasoning for the fake carbs. There's no getting around not running with fuel injection anymore with emissions, and that's Triumphs take on it.
Other than the fake carbs, how is the bike?
I wouldn't be thrilled with a Triumph America either because cruisers are not my thing.
I can't fault Triumph on the fake carbs though. These bikes are intended to look classic, and well, they had to put the injectors somewhere. On a classic-styled bike like this, it looks better to make the injector housing carb-shaped because that parallel twin just doesn't look right without carbs behind it.
I've ridden the new FI Bonneville, and it's a really nice bike. Of course, it's also not a cruiser, which helps immensely.

Bennington Triumph Bash, Oct 1-3, 2021
Middle july back the middle of August
best temps up north that time.
Plan is up to prudhoe bay and over to Inuvik again as once wasn't enough
Leaving suday the 11th of july and back the week of 8th of august or thereabouts.
This time I'm going to shoot across to bellingham washington and catch the ferry up to Alaska and then thru alaska and back via the Alcan and down to Montana and yellerstone and places like that..
It's about 13 thousand miles or so out and back
4 1/2 weeks is just right timewise
Manny if your serious about this we'll get together and chat about it

How was the jetting on the carbs??
Hey Jim
Kept the same set of tires out and most of the way back
metzler tourances , knobbies not really necessary and most of the alcan is paved. Fairbanks to prudhoe is all gravel and calcite and the top of the world highway is mostly dirt but as long as you take it easy shouldn't be a problem. The road too Inuvik has lots of shale and gravel. If the season is really wet it could be an issue otherwise no problem.
I really want to take the ferry so I can drop in on Bemused and have a cup of tea. Miss that man
