Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
I always saw bike week as a novelty, and I had some fun in Daytona and Laconia in my 20’s (when tits we’re still on display everywhere you looked). The novelty wears pretty quickly though.
Who would have thought that helmets prevent head injuries.....

I’m going to bike week for the first time this year since having my license in 05. Back then I thought sport bike riders weren’t welcome abs my bike would get knocked over just for being Japanese.
Now I’ll be on an American bike, but don’t think it’s really that crowd.
I hope to just go chill and drink and enjoy the ambiance.
What am I in for?
Your park avenue leads to..
NASWA beach bar usually has a good side show, plus you can put your chair in the lake and chill, while watching the show!
The part of bike week that makes in worth a day trip is seeing custom bikes rolling around. Its not on the official calendar but a fantastic superspreading event is also planned for this year. Be sure to buy an overpriced cotton shirt and be stuck in lines and traffic, as is tradition.
Daytime: over aged men & women dressing as disgustingly outlandish as they can while riding (parking) the most gaudy bikes they can.
Nightime: frat/sorority party
All bikes welcome. I went many times on sportbikes and never had an issue. Park, walk around, people watch & take in the spectacle.

A lot of whining from the AMA guys in 2000.. Bob Bahre doubled the purse for the pro thunder class to put some bikes on the track. Still the AMA pros said no. the locals didn't care and wanted to race.. once they made it a no points event, the Pro guys said ok... I finished fifth and $1200 richer! Believe that might have been the last year for the pro guys?

They never liked the place to begin with.. then after Thomas Stevens ended his career here in a turn one incident. Plus Miguel's big one in turn six, they hated it even more.. used the rain as an excuse to stop racing! all this was before air fence and the changes to turn one and eight. i remember talk of redoing the bowl but cost vs payback it never came about!

They might have been cunty about it, but they weren’t wrong. Loudon is still a pretty unsafe track.
