Despite life-altering crashes, motorcyclists won't give up -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

All of the riders mentioned in the article were on Harleys or owned Harleys. Is this just coincidental? Or is there a theme here.
I thought it was a good article overall regardless of the types of bikes they ride.
It speaks to the passion not the preference in domestic or foreign machines.
I liked this quote:
"I think in this case, the hobby is not so much a hobby — it's the core of who they are as people."
I'm glad SOMEBODY is capable of grasping the underlying theme. That right there is proof that you are truly passionate about motorcycling as a lifestyle choice. In contrast to the automaton Duncan yo-yo brain responses that dismiss the literary quality of the article simply because it doesn't mention what the riders were wearing for safety gear. Talk about the pussification of America.![]()

Nice article, even though it was geared slightly towards Harley riders![]()
I love motorcycling too. I want to do it as long as possible. Thus, I wear my gear. The story is that people loved motorcycling so much that it mained them, or killed them. If we assume they werent wearing proper gear and gear would have helped in their accidents, they wouldnt have these kinds of problems. It is that these people loved motorcycling despite causing so much harm. What about the people that are properly geared and have crashed, do they love the motorcycles any LESS?

That was a good article. It doesn't matter if it was all HD guys or they could have all been less hurt if they were wearing more/any gear.
I work with a guy who would be a perfect canidate for that article.
He chopped a telephone off 15' of the ground with his HEAD! Put him in a comma for 6 months and made him loose a ton of memory, motor skills, the ability to walk. He relearned how to walk and ride again and has been in two more crashes bad enough to require a helicopter ride. He still rides to this day and walks very slow with a bad limp. The guy is nuts but at least he has a 3/4 helmet now in stead of the beanie that was half worn threw.

Saw this picture....shut it down. Glad you all could read it!

And who know's? She might even turn out to be a cool person to talk to! Maybe buy you a beer and share some of her insights on life. She aint pretty, thats true. But she doesn't just ride bikes, she builds 'em too! Good enough for me...
