    GAs Can question

    So I was at Home Depot looking for gas can.
    I bought the only 5 Gallon one they had. Its yellow.
    I see now that I am home that its meant to be for Diesel fuel.

    Is this just a convention for identification? Or is there something
    different about the way its made that makes it a diesel fuel
    can?

    I'd just as soon use a yellow one for gas as I dont use diesel.

    thanks...

    I dont believe there is a difference in the plastics. Only for ID purposes. I usually use a blue one for kerosene, and the yellow for diesel. Everyone knows what the red is used for.

    Someone can correct me if I'm wrong... but I think the only diff between the red yellow and blue is the color... I don't think it's specially made to hold a certain type of fuel.

    red = gasoline
    yellow = diesel
    blue = kerosene

    My kerosene is in a spray bottle, but I labeled it.

    They are not specifically designed to hold different types of fuel. The colors are to identify the type of fuel in the container. Traditionally it's RED for gasoline and YELLOW for diesel.

    Are you just reiterating/fortifying my point or did you misread what I wrote?
