ok so i been riding a bit, and im getting into turns more and trying to lean as far as possible. but it seems like the only place to get a decent turn is an on/off ramp.... im sick of that, there is always some one in front of you going slow, then theres pot holes, and then you usually have to yield/stop at the end of them. really does not allow much speed... any recommendations from you RI riders?
go to CT. sometimes i ride 138-169 an hit up the bean

You need to head up to Foster / Glocester area of RI, and right over the boarder in CT around the Brooklyn area. Lots of nicer roads around there.
no long curvey roads here. A few short ones like on ocean road in narr and the back roads through east and west greenwich. Conn is not bad but NH or VT are better. the entry off of the jamestown bridge section of 138 heading west and then the exit ramp to rt 4 east are lots of fun on my way to work. I can show you some good riding through charlestown, shannock and then westerly if you are interested as I have led rides that way.

go look at a map of southern florida... then everything in the northeast looks like a curvey road.
The best advice I’ve ever been given is to not forget where you came from.
West out of Wakefield RI, Tuckertown Road to shannock road north. Some NICE twisty corners. Then stay on shannock all the way west till it becomes Old Shannock and runs into Rt 112.
There are some awesome turns and cops are rare. Newport has some good stuff, tiverton has some awesome stuff down to the water on the east side of the bay...
CT has good stuff as was mentioned.
Oh, and dont just hit up the cloverleaf where 138 meets rt. 1, even early on a weekend with no cars around, apparently the police dont appreciate it. (I know, squidly, but some cool right/left bends).
Just be careful of sand. I threw my 08 600RR down the road last friday after losing the back end in a patch of pretty much invisible pebbles. Thank god I have all the sliders on from trackdays...
oh, and if any of these were someones "precious secret routes", I am sorry. I ride em, if you want to, do so within your limits and respect the peeps that live on them.

Good route from N. Smithfield to the Bean in Pomfret, CT:
102S to 44W to 98S to 102N/14E to 112S to 116N to 14W [hooks up with 102S] (yep, that's a loop around the Scituate Reservoir) to 14aW to 14W to 169N.

I run them roads all the time to the bean, I don't know the name's as they are all back roads for the most part. just know the way. I am sure you'll pucker a time or two...
Forgive the crude hand drawn map I did up a few years back for another use.
This isn't a bad loop (red dots):
Green dotted intersections have stop signs.
Best time for low traffic is midday Mon-Fri.
It's been a favorite of riders in the Greater Providence area for decades. Not to spoil the adventure, BUT...
...Beware that the western leg heading SE (counter-clockwise loop direction) has been the scene of several group bike crashes over the years, some fatal.

Yep. I went on a ride the other day. Did a big loop all the way around Kingston w/o actually going into it.Tuckertown road was alot of fun, south of Narragansett Pier on the way to Pt. Judith can be fun too, but you're more than likely to get bogged up behind some cages there.
Twitsy roads in RI OR MA..![]()

if u go to newport, ocean drive isnt bad, but i really wouldnt open it up....ur driving along the mansions and "the ocean" good amount of tourist and not incredibly long either.
u want curvy hit tower hill road in cumberland ri...also would recommend flying because blind corners galore, boulders on side of the street. but curvy as shit

Please ignore the goofy interviews (we later decided NOT to have me talk on camera) and the choice of machine...also not my idea!!
But if you follow the routes, you'll be amazed at the roads!
Enjoy.
Some short but kinda fun roads in tvtn, little Compton, and into Westport and dartmouth.

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
There's lots of great back roads in Exeter, Richmond, West Greenwich, western Coventry/Greene, Foster, Scituate, etc. Not endless roads like in NH or Vt, but with some time exploring the area, one can link up a great ride in RI and get in a couple hundred miles![]()
