I went for my first two up ride with the girlfriend on Sunday. It was a lot easier than I expected. I was very nervous before she got on the bike and when we first started to go but I got the hang of it pretty quick. I did the squidly thing and gave her my helmet and jacket and went without one down the street and back. Fortunetly for me I didn't dump anywhere (Yes I know very stupid move). She and I went shopping for a helmet for her yesterday, she had a lot of fun on the bike for the short time she was on.

Awesome!
Just tell her to make sure she sits still when coming to a stop. And when cornering tell her that if she leans away from the turn she makes the bike go over even more. Basically she should be a sack of potatoes on the back.![]()

I let her know to sit still before we left, she just made sure to crush my balls when we stopped. She did pretty well most of the time.Originally posted by SWEET_Z

Tighten up your rear preload when carrying a passenger, it helps a ton. You may need to up the preload on the forks as well.
Have her put her hands on the tank when stopping. If she does that instead of hugging you the whole time, she can brace against the tank, no more crushed balls, sore back, and out of control feeling when stopping.
I told her after the first crushing to put her hands on the tank when we stopped. Which way should I be turning the rear shock to adjust preload?

Check the owners manual for your bike.
It should also be obvious from looking at the collar on the shock.
But if you've never done it you should definitely look at the manual.
Ill check tomorrow.

this site has some good tips on riding w/ a passenger.... i've had that link for some time now & Tony Ianarelli just re-posted it up on ODFU the other day... some good stuff
#4 is the one about passenger briefings... i think there's one other section on there too.
