I got a screw in my rear tire riding home from the track and have the SRNE trackday next Tuesday and will be out of town until Sunday. I'll have to swap them at the track without use of real wheel machines. My tires need to be changed anyhow (was going to finish up this trackday before swapping them). The problem is I don't have any stands at home.
my options
1) Plug the hole and ride on it. Order tires online and swap them later.
2) Get a Pirelli dot race takeoff (one heat cycle) for $100 a set and swap it at the track
3) Order a new set online and hope it comes in time for the trackday.
Also because I don't have real tire removal machine, I've heard it's a bitch to get the old tire off. Anyone have any techniques. Should I buy a bead breaker?
Thanks
Don't know if this helps, but tere is a tire guy with machine in the pit garages. I think he peddles tires. Maybe you could hook up with him for the buns, or just pay him for the service?

Where do you live?
if it's around the New Bedford area I have the stand, tire irons and rim savers.![]()
I'm in Medford and was planning to plug the tire and ride up to NH for the trackday and fix it there. I don't have a car that can tow (or trailer for that matter). If I get tires beforehand I can get them sent to my brothers house and he can bring them up.
The only trouble spot seems to be getting the old tire off. I've heard its hard to do w/o the proper tools.
Thanks
Steve I got a factory dunlop 180 rear tire for my R6 it has one track day on it. Thats it. Give me $50.00 and I can take it off and we could bring it to one of the shops around here. Here is the kicker I live in NH. Southern NH but NH.....Merrimack to be exact. Its just a though.
Steve, i have a PitBull spool type stand i'll have with me for the trackday. You're more than welcome to use it.
If you plug it, at least make sure it's done from the inside.

To break the bead I've used a good size vise since I don't have a bead breaker. It works just as well, and the tire irons are fairly easy to use. Sorry were not a little closer. Would be happy to help.
