I just received this email from Paul and Holly:
I have a pair of the Carbon Race Gloves and I have crash tested them... great gloves. They're a little thick and no venting, but they're stout enough to take a 200 lb idiot for a slide down an "oil and stone" roadway and yet still be worn.We have just added the following items to our pages at New Enough, including
a great new closeout deal on FirstGear gloves. Thank you for shopping with
us.

FirstGear Carbon Race Glove
Retail Price: $79.95, Now $39
[the rest snipped]
The gloves feature hard carbon kevlar across the knuckles, soft carbon kevlar on the finger knuckles, a pad across the heel on the palm, grippy material across the top of the palm and up the index and middle fingers, a squeegee on the back of the left index finger so you can wipe moisture off your faceshield, and a full circumference wrist retention strap.
My current pair do have some loose threads from the crash, so I just picked these up for $45 delivered. That's a great price for a great pair of gloves. Thought I'd pass it along.

Will those first gear gloves be too hot for all year round gloves? I am about to learn how to ride, and am looking for reasonably priced gear, and these gloves look great.
I've worn these gloves through all kinds of weather; cold, wet, and heat, and they've never bled onto my heads. On top of that, I've never really felt like my hands were overheated, but I've also never ridden with perforated gloves or gloves that had knuckle vents.
I'm biased. I've purchased the gloves before and I was happy with them as a comfortable item. Now that I've crash tested them, I'm really happy with them. The fact that I'm able to buy them for $45 intead of the $70 I paid previously is a huge bonus.
PS - as much as I wanted to like the Teknic gloves, they just didn't fit me. I found that my fingers were too long, and to be honest, I just couldn't warm up to the chrome knuckles.
