Which is how I did it, even my first time, so I guess instinct is out. It probably is instinct/muscle memory for any pro using GP though.
that was for street riders only.

    OK, so my replies to A & B are out. C still stands, which kills D. You're @ 50%.

Oh, and enough with the bowing shit. I'm a novice on an EX for chrystsakes... this sure as shit is not a "holier than though" thing, just conversatin. For A & B I'd have said the same if we were talking about racing go carts.

You're in Lynn, right? So crack & heroin are already easily accessible, and Boston Moto will hook you up track day wise. Find out! Hell, try all 3! (not at the same time. Well, the first 2 at the same time, maybe).

    wait, wat?

I would like to take a moment here, and mention that stoneman has ridden his TLR about 200' total in the past 4 years. Any of his opinions about GP shift doesn't apply to this thread

Sorry, I thought my self-depreciating comments about novice, EX, go carts etc. would imply that I was also. Do I need to attach a disclaimer next time?

That's why I said they were a few tips she CAN use (if she wants to) to help. Those tips helped me so it's not like they don't work at all. They're things to use to help you remember which way to shift if you need help remembering. Once you learn it you don't really need to use em.

And like I said... once you start getting used to GP, then GP becomes what you normally do.... and if you keep doing the opposite of what you normally do you miss shifts.

yes, and when I'm off the bike on the right-hand side, my foot doesn't make it under the lever to upshift with the shifter set up standard. So, when I'm that far off the bike n the right, a little down tap on the shift lever gets me out of 2nd to 3rd going up the hill.

    Yeah, that musta been it.

Pretty sure it's considered leaning a bike too far once you get into the hard parts.

I wasn't even told, it was quite by accident, I brought my SV into dealer for service and when I picked it up, I took off in 2nd and promptly shifted to first

wtf, decided to try it for a while and never went back

Some other ways to know if you've exceeded the lean angle are:

    • People coming up to you and asking if you're all right.
    • You can see your bike....but it's 'over there'
    • You remember seeing blue sky, tarmac, blue sky, gravel, blue sky....
    • You can't remember seeing blue sky, tarmac, blue sky, gravel, blue sky....
