Picked up a GoPro over the weekend and I've been trying sine to find a nice place / way to mount it on my Ninja 250. So far, with the adhesive mount, I've tried (indicated by arrows in picture):
- Inside handlebar end, looking through the windscreen. Gave a nice steady view, which looked like shit due to the reflection and distortion from the screen.
- Plastic trim underneath the handlebars, adjacent to the fairing. Vibrated like all hell.
- Front fairing, off to the side of the headlight. Vibrated a bit less, but still looked bad.
- Top of the brake reservoir. Not enough height to clear the windscreen.
I also tried using a traditional bar clamp on the end cap, but the problem is that the bars are angled, and I can't get it straight. Tail section is far too flexible to mount to (same issue as trim and fairing). I have the helmet mount (adhesive and rubber coated strap) but rather avoid both as it adds extra weight and makes it difficult / impossible to open the visor. Also have the suction cup, but I don't trust it enough, and there aren't many places to stick it.
Thoughts? I'm trying to figure out if it's at all possible to undo a well placed screw and fasten in some kind of mount, but don't know a) what mount to stick in there and b) what screws are stable enough and able to be safely played with. I'd really appreciate any help with this one.

Just a few quick ideas...you can mount it to your helmet. That way it gets a clear view over your windscreen which looks smoked. Another option is a gas tank mount...might have fewer vibrations.
Here are some more ideas.

the suction cup mount works very well, trust it.
Here is a quick test I did with the suction cup mount:

I've used the suction cup on my Evo, my bike, friends bike and my WRX driving around in a blizzard. Never ever had an issue with it. It will hold onto your bike.
It's not that I don't trust the suction cup period (I use it on the outside of my car on the highway), it's just that I don't really have any spots flat enough that I trust any suction cup to hold to.
I think I may put one some sliders, if for no other reason, than to just be able to mount the camera to. Anyone ever try this?
You should take a look at some of the stuff from RAM mounts. You could then use the tripod adapter from GoPro.
What about a RAM stem mount. Is that just a protective plug on the steering stem?

I mounted mine to the front of the windscreen...then again it's just a track bike so aesthetics aren't a huge concern. But it does offer a fantastic, unobstructed view of the road ahead!
i just suction it to my side, tank, windscreen and then made a mount for the swing arm. u can put that on anything. good luck
Anyone try mounting to sliders? There too much vibration?
this site might help you, a lot of good info

Try using the suction cup mount mounted to your windscreen or headlight. I have tried a bunch of different locations and this one seems to give a pretty stable front facing picture. Heres a brief vid from that location.YouTube - ‪Saturday morning Shakedown‬‏
