how about this:
-vehicles older than 15 years from ME don't require a title
So if you bought a dirtbike, "sold it" to a NESR'ian in ME, "bought" it from that ME resident, and brought a bill of sale to the RMV, could you get it registered for the street?
Ask Vermont
I thought you could register a cruise missle if you wanted
How about it VT'ers

I think this has been discussed with peeps from NH, not sure if anyone did it though.Originally posted by Bhavesh

Yes,
You can register pretty much anything.
Just be willing to pay the 6% sales tax.
There is 15 year look back here also for needing a title.
But a Certificate of Origin if it is a new bike is completly acceptable.

Do dirt bikes come with a title new?
I am asking because I am looking for something small that I can ride on the street and trails...
250-400cc, light weight.
XR250L or KLR250 would be sweet, but something with slightly better susp. would be cool to make a motarrr for track days...

Go get a new 2007 KTM 450exc, all problems solved![]()
Dirtbikes, just like streetbikes and autos, come with a Manufacturers Certificate of Origin when purchased new. A Certificate of Title is issued by the state![]()
The only thing different is the big Notice in the middle of the CO on dirtbikes and ATV's.... "This vehicle was not manufactured for use on public streets, roads or highways. Such use is prohibited by law."
That was the advantage to a KTM pre-2006, there was a sticker on the bike and the CO said nothing about road use.
