A lot of non-motorcycling folks like to preach how dangerous riding is and how crazy we all are. Many would argue that it's our life and we know the risks. The enjoyment of riding is worth it and we accept the fact. Now you have riders preaching danger to other riders over wheelies. I guess the same argument can be made. Think riding is crazy- don't do it. Think wheelies are crazy-don't do them. The funny thing is, not doing wheelies does not necessarily make you a good rider. That shit is an illusion.
let me help![]()

So riding your bike fast is safer than doing a controlled wheelie? You can die doing both and I don't beleive one is anymore dangerous tthan the other.Your statement doesn't make much sense to me, no offense, but I'm having trouble understanding. I guess you could say: You look at people doing wheelies on bikes ( You're going to die doing that ) much like non-motorcycle riders look at us motorcyclsts (your going to die doing that).
See what I mean?
Some people ride bikes..
some people can wheelie riding a bike..
For once I agree with Kham, it is addicting, much like the track heroes on the board, they say the track is addiciting..
Damn, this is twice today Kham and I have been on the same wavelength............god help me. Kham you wanna ride this weekend..
EDIT: I just saw dangerzones post after writing this....same thought...sorry.

???? Just can't see my self snapping my throttle as i'm going off the road heading for a rock..
Guess i'm a squid... No one other then the pople i'm riding with see my wheelies, but mostly I throw it up when i'm alone, when I get a good straightaway.. Just a quick power wheelie.. But the TLR is a heavey lump, and now my forks are leaking all over Peters bench
...
+1
+1 If dieing scares you that much, you should get off the bike and take up GOLF or something..
i've tried plenty of times to learn when i was younger. all i did was scare myself and beat up my bikes. i gave up, screw it. i can scare myself and crash just as effectivly in corners and i enjoy that more so that is where i take my risks instead. i do however enjoy watching other people wheelie. especially guys that are good at it. it's deffinatly a cool moto skill in my book.

yea, no chopping the throttle back while it's up there ffs... that could be bad for fork seals (and your family jewels).
keep on the gas a little and breathe on the rear brake, let her down slowly, like landing an airplane.

most wheelies are smooth, but a couple that fuck you up on and don't get to the balance point right and you hit the rev limiter, sucks sucks sucks... never snap your throttle back, use your rear brake, it's the only thing it's good for..
Oh and if you let KB ride your bike, make sure you tell him your rear brake sucks and doesnt work....

No offense taken.
You're right. You assume risk no matter how you ride. It's my personal preference to not wheelie. Personally, I associate wheeling with a higher-propensity to being involved in an accident. That's just me
if you know what you're doing, it's not any more risk than doing 154mph. right young lady?![]()

If you look down, you go down. That may be fun at an orgy, but it sucks on a bike
