i was all into bikes like a year ago, but my parents said they'd never buy me one, so i got kinda discouraged, but this summer i'm workin in alaska and racking in some serious dough. so what advice have you guys got on what to do, and what to buy?
i'll have 5k or less to spend on a bike, and i'll be wanting cheaper gear.
i figure frame sliders are a must, cuz i know i'll do something stupid...like get off and forget to put down my kickstand or some shit![]()
i also plan on taking the msf course, of course
so what do you guys suggest for a bike, and for gear?
bike: used SVor a ninja 250, or ninja 500, or gs500
gear: all of it... best you can afford. Joe Rocket textile has served me well in good times & bad.
The only "intuitive" interface is the nipple.
SV 650 wold be great for a bike. The advantages of a naked bike for newbies is great! Plastic breaks easy!!!!!! Pleanty of power for ya too.

Fizzer 600 was my first bike, and I loved it. Great learner bike. I wish I still owned it.
I got a 96 Fizzer 600 the thing is fuckin sweet. Oh yes and that is my first bike.
How about an EX 500 , light yet nimble, with a lower seat height for the vertically challenged. As far as gear goes anything by Joe Rocket will work or Technic or alpinestar if ya got money to burn. The main thing is to be protected for the unexpected. Right T .

Gotta get bags man . . Tank bags , or hard bags , or a bag on your back . . . man bags are needed , especially when you goto some place expecting not to buy something and then you buy it and come out and remember that you rode your bike . . . . . happened to me once . . . really sucked . . . that's the only thing I gotta recommend . .. .
