I remember when I was in college thinking "If I got a decent job that enabled me to have a Tacoma TRD and a ZRX1200, I've done alright"

Now that bar has moved up to Tesla P100D and an H2R that I somehow managed to street reg.

Something tells me this bar won't ever be hit, but ya gotta have dreams, ya know?

Until the speeds got higher, it was insane to see the H2R pulling away from the F1 car.

Yep, I was wrong. I watched the end and for about one frame can see it. I always enjoyed watching them do the afterburner takeoffs at night when I was stationed at Luke. A couple of times I was driving down the taxiway parallel to them in my fuel truck.

In a short distance, very little can touch the Tesla. I think in Ludicrous mode ( or whatever they call it) the car is putting down about 680ft-lbs of torque, and that is still valid at 0 rpms. So it will jump up and go, but once the race car and bike get into their power zones, the power to weight ratio takes over.

It's not just the high torque value, it's the electronic ability to modulate it nearly instantly and make almost perfect use of available traction whereas a gasoline engine has lag time between throttle input and output at the wheels.

Considering the lag of getting the heavy F-16 moving from a standstill, I'm curious to know what it's quarter mile trap speed is considering it was less than a second behind the H2R and the F1 car.
